I’m happy to report that I have FINALLY finished my Anita’s Arrowhead quilt, just in time to donate for Hands 2 Help 2019!
This quilt is a UFO that I started…. who knows when… and finished the top 2 years ago, but then it sat in my UFO pile until Sapphy and I recently decided to quilt it 🙂
Yes, she was a great help.. er… pest…
It was the first time I’d used Emmie G for over a year, and I used a pantograph…
I was quite happy with the result, but when I get back I need to get someone to come and service her because I had a few technical issues…
Hands 2 Help 2019
I thought Anita’s Arrowhead would be a good one to finish for the yearly Hands 2 Help challenge hosted by the lovely Sarah from Confessions of a Fabric Addict..
Last year it was my privilege to write a guest post for Sarah as part of the challenge – I wrote about the Charity Quilt sewing days we had in Arabia.. and I managed to finish two quilts for the challenge.
This year I am happy to have finished this one quilt…
Like the quilts from last year, it will be donated to one of our local nursing homes, to warm someone’s lap 🙂
While it is heating up here in the gulf of Arabia, it’s been cold back in Ballarat! So I am sure someone will appreciate it!
Anita’s Arrowhead Free Pattern
Anita’s Arrowhead is a quick and easy quilt to make, and is a pattern by Anita Grossman Solomon from Make it Simpler.
I found the pattern, however, on the Quilting Company’s website, and is still there to download for free. Check it out – it’s a fun one to do with layer cakes!
I used a layer cake for mine, can’t remember which one it was now…
It would also look great scrappy, with a white background I think… and since I have finally finished this one, maybe when I get home I should start a scrappy one 🙂 And try not to let it become a UFO 🙂
Just before I flew out three weeks ago, I put the binding on the quilt…
….an hour before I had to leave 🙂 You know the saying, “If it wasn’t for the last minute, nothing would get done!”
I was happy I did push myself to do it though, because I’ve been enjoying hand stitching the binding while I’ve been here.
I have a little “sewing corner” set up in the lounge room, and have been spending a bit of time there most days…
Now that I finished that, I can keep going on my crochet, embroidery.. oh, and yeah, get back into making hexies!
If you have some spare time, head over to Sarah’s blog to see what everyone else has been making for Hands 2 Help this year! There are so many amazing quilts to see!
Great quilt, love the colors!
That’s a beauty, Joy, and thanks for the source. I think it might make a great leader-ender when I finish the log cabins! I think I have a pack of FQs that I wasn’t sure what to make.
Your charity quilt turned out so pretty. I hope I can do a charity quilt someday! Nancy
Well done you! In spite of all of Sapphy’s assistance. 😉 Good thing she’s so pretty…
Beautiful quilt, Joy, and a pattern I’m going to have to try out! Thanks for being part of H2H 2019!!
Lovely quilt that someone will definitely love – and good that it had the stamp of approval from Sapphy!
It’s fantastic!
I love that block pattern and have made a couple of quilts with it.
I’m also making a miniature block collection since I love this block so much!
