As my stay here is coming to an end, I thought I’d put together a bunch of random pics I took while I was out and about last month…
A few days after I arrived, Ramadan, the month of fasting for Muslims, started. For us in the Middle East that means no one eats in public during daylight hours.
Times are changing, however, and this year many cafes and restaurants were open during the day…. albeit behind screens and curtains…
The signs say they are only open for non-muslims and children.
So after I was at Craftland the other day, I went to have a cuppa at a cafe called Costa…
Normally all the tables under the umbrellas would be full… but not last month. Instead the blinds were drawn and it was quite dark inside.. still enjoyed a nice hot chocolate and croissant though …
There are so many malls here. The reason I went to this one is because it has Ikea, and of course I needed to have a wander through in case there was anything I needed 🙂
I do love the way they have everything set up, and co-ordinated. I bought a few odds and ends, ahem.. about 9kg worth of odds and ends!
When we went to the movies, we went to a different mall. To our surprise, they also had screens up and we were able to buy and eat popcorn during the movie…
We watched Avengers: End Game. It was good…..
This mall also has this fun shop:
…and close by, while it is 37C outside, it is around 1C in here:
Tried to convince DH to go skiing with me, but he thinks I will break my leg. He might be right. One day I do at least want to go tobogganing in there…
Meanwhile, back home in Ballarat it actually snowed last week. And I missed out! I was quite peeved.
Sapphy has been up to mischief while I was gone, getting into my herb garden:
Well, at least the parsley seems to be growing…..
Tomorrow I’m heading back to the cold… I will not be sad to leave the heat… but I will be sad to leave my man….
I came over here with 13kg all up…. so far I am bringing back one suitcase that is 20kg, and the other is 20kg but still need to try to fit some more in 🙂 Thankfully I get extra allowance being a Silver frequent flyer member… speaking of which, I used my points and upgraded to Business Class!!!!! So excited!!!
Do you want to see pictures of me flying in luxury?!
Oh enjoy your flight Joy!!! I was upgraded to business class once on a short internal flight – it was very nice! Interesting to see and hear about life in the Middle East. I’m sure you will enjoy cuddling Sapphy again – although it sounds like you won’t be out in the garden very much 🙂
Enjoy your flight back home Joy. Hugs,xx
Ahh–travel plans again–and then more jet lag–but all for a good cause–
as Sapphy has missed you–that is why she was in the herb garden–she is just
looking for you–she wouldn’t cause any problems now would she?????
Thanks for the sights and traditions of that country–and it was very
interesting—I remember when the shops and malls and such where
closed on Sundays–that was long time ago now though!!!!
safe travels dear friend–luv, di
PS–guess what I got in the mail this week???
your Christmas card–I really did send you one–
said wrong address!!!
I know it’s hard leaving DH, but bet the kids will be glad to see you home, along with parents & friends. Lucky you being able to have an upgrade on long haul! Enjoy & we’ll catch up before our holiday. Take care & huggles.
Safe travels. Love business class on long hauls (done once using qantas points to upgrade 😆) is fabulous. Great food and a seat that becomes your bed, so much better to (try) sleep. Weather last few days in northeast Victoria have been glorious.. The heat over there sounds oppressive.
oh gosh it is my dream to fly business… definitely want pictures so I know how to dream about it! Safe travels and don’t forget your coat for when you get off the plane! Great to see some pics of life over there…
Hugz
What an exciting life you lead! I think I would be glad to get out of that heat. How long before you see your DH again? And are you bringing lots of goodies for sewing back? Nancy
Loved seeing all the pics of life over there… oh yes you will have to go tobogganing in the special mall one day…
Love to see you flying in luxury…. not cold here , mid to high 20s nice but we need rain badly….
Very interesting hearing about life in the Middle East. A Lego shop and an IKEA in the one shopping centre – awesome! I hear once you’ve travelled business class you never want to go back. Enjoy!!
Travel and jet lag will be rough, but I am glad you had a good visit!
Interesting info on being in the middle east-thanks for sharing with us non-travelers!
So sorry your time is nearly up – hopefully you’ll be able to go back really soon (or your man can come to visit you!). And yes please, pictures of business class travel would be fun to see.
