It’s July! Which means…. Christmas in July…. and you know how much I love Christmas in July… and how much I love hosting Stitchalongs… so the surprise I have been working on is a Christmas in July Stitchalong!
I actually planned this stitchalong for last Nov/Dec, but didn’t quite manage to get it done… which is probably a good thing because that means we’ve got something fun to do this month…
It’s lovely wintery weather where I am now… so I’ve been enjoying stitching with a quilt over my knees… (and sometimes a kitty cat too)…… If I had a wood fire it would be on, but alas, gas central heating will have to do 🙂
This is how the Christmas in July Stitchalong will work:
There will be three blocks in total. The first three Mondays in July I will attempt to get a new block out, and on the fourth Monday I will post a tutorial on how to put the blocks together into a cute wall-hanging!
The blocks will be up for free for the whole month, after which they will go in our shop. I will give you plenty of warning before I take them down, don’t worry!
Christmas in July Stitchalong Block 1
UPDATE: THE STITCHERIES ARE NO LONGER UP FOR FREE, BUT ARE NOW AVAILABLE IN our shoP
All three blocks are going to be Christmas ornaments, and I hope you like them as much as I enjoyed designing and stitching them up!
The colors I used to stitch with match the Vintage Holiday fabric collection by Bonnie & Camille (*affiliate link). I used these fabrics last year to make my Fabric Christmas Crackers:
and my little Christmas Pouches…
Since I have plenty of leftover fabric, I decided to make some more Christmas goodies from them this July.
Each of the blocks are pretty quick to stitch up…
.. so I hope you’ll join in with me this month and have some Christmas in July fun!
If you are in my Facebook group you can share your photos.. if you aren’t in my group, you are most welcome to join in!
Oh, and there will be more Christmas in July goodness happening here, so make sure you pop back in regularly or go on my mailing list to get updates!

Oh, so pretty and easier for you to think about when it is chilly than me in a heat wave! lol
Thank you for this! I need to get stitching!
What a delight design–just printed it out–
hope to do some transferring (tracing) some designs today or tomorrow–
(which probably means it will be the end of the week before it really happens–
but I am ready–for whenever???)
thanks–
see you next Monday–
luv, du
Thanks Joy. Love making Christmas decorations so am happy to join you for Christmas in July. Hugs,xx
Hi Joy! Those look simple enough that maybe even I can join in! Wish me luck. Have not embroidered much but excited about these. Thank you! I am on the mailing list already aren’t I? It is so hot and humid here this days. Maybe will cool us off to think about Christmas! Nancy
How pretty – and quick – I think I can manage this much….
This looks like a fun stitch along Joy – thank you so much 🙂
Yes I’ll be joining in & you already know what I’ll be doing with mine. Can’t wait to get stitching. Huggles.
So pretty! And what a fun idea to have a stitch-a-long! Pinned.
Looks like a fun stitch along. As soon as I figure out how to download it I’ll give it a go.
Got it, as soon as I admitted I had a problem of course. duh
What fun! I’ve been revving up my Christmas prep because I know I won’t have time to finish all that I have on my list to do if I don’t get a wiggle on. So far this week the completed Lego blanket and a finished pair of socks went into the Christmas box.
Thank you! I’ll post about this tomorrow on QuiltBOM. Is that a silver floss, or a gray one? I can’t really tell if it’s metallic or just shiny. =) Your stitching is so pretty, even way up close. Mine is never that nice for backstitch. Stem and outline, yes, but backstitch I don’t have 50 years experience doing, and it shows. LOL Thank you so much for this wonderful Christmas in July event.
That is so very NiCe of you… xox
