Welcome to Day 3 of the 12 Days of Christmas in July Blog Hop hosted by the lovely Sarah! The project I am sharing with you today is my latest pattern – a Christmas Hexagon Table Topper!
I came up with the idea for this hexagon table topper last July…. and then promptly got distracted by some other project and forgot about it 🙂 When Sarah put out the call for the blog hop, I remembered it… and so I got sewing….
The great thing about this hexagon table topper is that it is ALL SEWN BY MACHINE, and there are NO Y SEAMS!
It is so quick and easy to make – I didn’t time myself, but I am pretty sure I can make one in less than an hour… so it’s perfect to make for Christmas gifts.
Of course you don’t have to make them in Christmas fabrics… they would look nice in any fabric to match your taste and decor.
You can also make this hexagon table topper in any size you like, depending on the size of the hexies you use.
I made this smaller one
And this mini one, perfect size for a tealight candle:
I think I will need to find a small white plate to go under the tealight… to protect it from wax.. It would also be good as a mug rug.
Sapphy helped got in the way of the creative process…. although she was torn betwen playing with the candy canes and the hexies…
When she started to get into the danger zone, and thinking about eating Nina (no, not the candy canes)….
…I decided she needed to get locked out of the sewing room… Don’t worry, I was not sewing while she was in her sewing machine attack mode , ahem, exploratory mood.
No cats were injured in the process of making these Christmas Hexagon Table Toppers!
If you read yesterday’s post, you know there was a cockatoo involved too……..
Well, I went out to my friend Annie’s house and took the Christmas Hexagon Table Topper with me… and the little Christmas tree with candy canes. I thought we’d have some fun doing a photo shoot with it.
So we wandered around her place taking pictures (and I probably left a trail of candy canes…. )
Here are some of the photos we took:
And the last one as we were walking past Cocky’s cage (and he was shouting out “Hello Cocky” to us…)…
Cocky did try to grab one of the candy canes…. but I assure you, like the cats, no Cockatoos were injured in the photo shoot of the Christmas Hexagon Table Topper 🙂

Any picture with your fur baby along with your Hexagon Table Topper will always be a winner in my book. They are first to pick the winner!!
I liked the ones with the cats!
Hi Joy, as always your blog always make me smile. Personally I like the last photo with the cocky the best, I love how he is trying to get in on the action! Love and hugs xxxx
My 3 cats pick Saffy sewing the Hexies. I choose the picture at Annie’s on her picnic table in her screened porch/veranda… Anyway the 1st PIC at Annie’s.
All are great but my favourite is the cookatoo one….
Love the hexie Christmas 🎄 Table Topper…
Love your hexi christmas topper….I love 2 pictures the best the one with the bird is so cute but also the one with the woodpile….Definitely makes me think of Christmas. Thank you for the chance to enter your giveway
Hi Joy,
My favourite photo is the one with the Cocky. I love birds.
Cute idea and looks pretty simple!
I loved the picture with the topper on the woodpile the best. Enjoyed seeing the kitty too.
Sapphy, wanting to play with the candy canes. Awesome pattern and beautiful kitty.
Now this is a very clever little table topper!!! I love the photo shoot! The beautiful bird and the fluffy kitty are great models! lol
I really like all the pictures but the one with the chicken is my favorite. Thanks for sharing your cute project.
I like the little one with the tealight! But they are all wonderful!!
Oh, Mr. Cocky stole the show for sure! Lovely little topper in those pretty fabrics.
I love your simple, clean table topper! But in my book, Cocky is the star–so my fav photo is the last one.
I liked them all, but really was drawn to the one on the concrete garden table. This is just darling!!
My favorite photo is of the tree on the woodpile. Thanks for the decorating idea.
Hard choice between cat and chicken. Chicken wins.
My favorite pic is the one with the cockatoo, but the pic of your cat attacking the sewing machine is amusing, too.
Besides your fur and feather babies, I love the pic with the topper and tree sitting on the hay! It just looks so natural!
My favorite finished project photo is your mid-sized topper. I like your fussy cut hexie with the bow, looks just like a little package.
I like the smaller one used with a candy bowl on it. I really think, though, the first one is the best.
My solution? Make all the sizes!! Very cute!!
. I
Cocky steals the show for me! He is a perfect backdrop for a hexie table topper! Yes, these could be made in so many colors to be used year-round! Lovely!
Great and beautiful idea! Love this hexie table runner!
I loved the one with Cocky! Love the hexie table topper, or mug rug — cute idea!!
The Cat Attack… dose that count? I see the fabric for the Hexies under the machine!
I liked the one on the woodpile.
i love the cockatoo photos the best. those birds always make me smile.
I like the one with Cocky. Love the table topper!
Love this topper! My favorite is the one with the bowl of chocolate balls on it. YUM!
all the photos are great, but I have to say I love the ones with with the cats. Cats are a lot more cuddly than birds. I’ve been looking for something small to make for gifts and the hexie mats are great.
log pile with the Xmas tree
Oh the chocolate balls (Whoopers?) great pic. and and and… actually love em all!
I like the one with kitty “sewing”!
I love the topper photo with Cocky. The various fabrics & colors show best with the cheeky bird.
.I like the picture with the bird! You can really see the entire table topper
That looks like a fast and fun project. Thanks for offering a chance to win the pattern!T
My favorite picture is the one with Cocky. Love the table topper. Hope I win because I’m very curious how you did that without “y” seams. Thanks for such fun projects!
As a lover of all cats, and having a Bernina as well, Sapphy trying to get in the action is my pick of all your photos. This looks like a wonderful pattern, and would make super gifts. Thanks for the pattern giveaway.
That’s a hard choice! I was tempted by the one with the cockatoo, but I have to go with the woodpile photo as my favorite one! Thought I liked the cat trying to eat the Bernina, too. Thanks so much for the chance to win the pattern. You didn’t say in the post how to buy it. LOL
That’s because it’s not up for sale yet 🙂 Will be after the giveaway! xx
Your hexie table topper is fun as can be! I loved seeing it in the different sizes. My favorite picture was the one with your cat’s paw right there by your presser foot. Such a helper! 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!
It’s adorable, Joy, and I’d love to know how you did it without Y-seams! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
I am particular to the photo with the table topper hanging from Cocky’s cage.
I think my favorite outdoor one was the one on the concrete table outdoors with the tree and candy canes sitting on it. I do love that one indoors with the candy too! I have never done a hexagon but think maybe this one I could do! LOL Nancy
Mr. Cocky is too funny! I loved all of the pics. I need to do something like this for my small tree.
Lots of Chirstmas-y happenings here! Love the pictures of your studio helper (and her feathered co-hort!).
My favorite is the one on the logs. thought, I thought all showcased the topper well.
I like the picture with the candy bowl 😁 as well as the one with Sapphy’s paw and mouth going at the sewing machine. 😄
Loved the Topper in first photo shoot pic…on the table..lil’ latern to the right. Think it shows to Topper so nicely. Loooove it! All the pictures are Awesome tho..love your “helper”..lol (My daughter has a “helper” too..his name is Mr. Bobbins..if she is sewing..he is right there “helping”..close up & personal..giggle ) Thank you for chance to win your Pattern too. 🙂
My fave is the photo shoot with Cocky. Super cute. Great idea for Christmas gifts. Xx
My favorite picture is the stretched-out cat paw, reaching near your sewing machine needle. That is a familiar scene at our house; we raised a litter of four kittens and even at six years old they are still very busy “helpers” when I try to quilt.
I really like the pictures with the cockatoo!
I like the photograph of the table topper on the hay bales with the trees in the background best. However, I love the whimsy of the cockatoo picture as well. Janice.snell@gmail.com
Wow, Great topper. I am a sucker for cute animals so I’m stuck between the kitty and the bird for best picture. But what I am really thinking is that the Hexies would be even cooler if each had one of your ornaments embroidered inside… just saying.
I like the tree on the wood pile, made me think “winter wonderland”
Thanks for sharing all the great photos.
Merry Christmas 🎄🎅⛄
Being the owner of two sewing helpers (cats) I love the photos with Sapphy. Your project is darling, 😍😍😍
I like the one with the photo with the wood pile and the table topper. But the best are the ones with the cat and/or the bird.
All are cute but the tealight and candy canes wins it for me!
I loved the Tabletopper but could not find the pattern. I love the cockatoo.
Hi Joy! Oh, those little paws being so helpful are so adorbs. I just start smiling as soon as I see them – especially on your last post, where they were on each side of the presser foot/needle area. How do you get anything done when you have someone so cute helping you?!! Thank you for these great little table topper. I just want to go make some right this minute – lots of them actually since I have lots of tables to top. ~smile~ Roseanne
I like the photo with Cocky!
I’ really torn about my choice. I love the photos os Sapphy, but the photo on the wood pile. It not only showcases the hexagon candlemat, but it gives a glimpse of your friend’s lovely property in the background. It looks like a peaceful place to roam around and relax in.
So cute! My favorite is the curious kitty because I have one too!
Love the Hexagon topper! My favorite picture would have to be the one with Cocky. Funny how he wanted a candy cane too. 🙂
I like the woodpile photo best.
I like the first photo with the lantern from your friend’s house. At your house, the tea light and candy dish are great pictures!
I loved the one with Saffy in it. Love cats and your kitty stole my heart. Thought the table topper too.
Very cute table topper Joy 🙂 It looks like a fun and easy project. My favourite photo is the one of Cocky eyeing up those candy canes!
Sapphy sewing was my favorite even if she was truly controlling the fabric!
I adore the photo shoot with Sapphy grabbing the fabric under the needle on the Bernina. That’s such a kitten antic no matter the age of the cat. Thanks for a chance to win your giveaway of your pattern.
The shot of the table topper on the woodpile is my favorite! But your cat is gorgeous!!
The cockatoo he is so cute.
Hard to choose one. But I really love the one with Mr. Cocky 😊
Love all the photos but my favorite is the one with the bowl of candy. It made me realize how versatile the pattern is…halloween prints for my candy bowl, Easter prints for a candy basket…and on and on!
I like the one with Cocky. I love those crazy birds! The table topper looks like so much fun to make up for gifts. Thanks for the give aways.
My favorite pics are of the cat with the tree and with the sewing machine.
They are all nice depends on what you like. I would choose #3 but that’s me.
It’s always fun to sew with helpers, but I’ve not experienced that kind of help with a photo shoot.
Adorable! I have a mini Christmas Tree in my kitchen filled with tiny utensils I have collected — this table topper would be perfect to display my tree. Thanks for sharing!
The Hexagon Table Topper looks great and easy to do. Looking forward to the pattern being available. I liked all the pictures, but liked the one with Cocky the best.
I love the idea of hexies using the machine. Cant wait to learn your secret. Any picture with animals is a winner with me but I think mr cocky is my fave☺️
My favorite photo is the one that looks like it was taken on a porch or deck by the lantern – oh so cute!!!
Love Sapphy’s picture trying to help with the making of this lovely hexagon topper! We all need a little help now and then!!
Thanks for a chance to win!
Love the one with My Cocky (SP?) peeking through the fence with it. Great shot and Wonderful project, Thanks!
I love the one on the outdoor table with the cherubs. It brings back memories of a similar table my grandparents had in their garden.
I’m a cat lover, so the photo showing Sapphy going for the candy canes or your hexi table topper is my pick. Gotta love it! peterstankovich@comcast.net
Hi
I am a little late to the party – didn’t see the 12 Days of Christmas until today.
I like the picture at Annie’s on her picnic table in her screened porch/veranda.
But any Christmas picture is great !
While the one with the cockatoo is hysterical, I really like the table mat is on the wood pile. The ends of the logs look very interesting, the table mat is displayed beautifully, and the Christmas tree looks very much at home with the bigger trees.
What a perfect idea for a gift that can be used all year round. Thank you for sharing a great idea.
