Accuquilt Go! Retreat

This time last week I was in South Australia, on an Accuquilt Go! retreat!! No, it wasn’t hosted by Accuquilt, but using their dies and cutters was the focus of the weekend..
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you will know that for the past two years I’ve been going to Judy’s for mystery retreats. This year I couldn’t make any of her scheduled retreats, so she kindly set aside another weekend for me to come… and for Dione from Clever Chameleon Quilting…
When she asked what we wanted to do – another mystery, or something else, I suggested we have an Accuquilt Go! retreat 🙂 I have a lot of dies from when I had my little shop, and two tubs of scraps that really needed to be dealt with:
Packing for the Accuquilt Go! Retreat
Once we worked out our dates and what we were doing, it was time to pack… this is what my lounge room looked like:
See the two empty tubs? I put all the scraps in zippered shopping bags so that they were easier to carry in and out of the car… most of my dies went in bags too…
Unpacking for the Accuquilt Go! Retreat!
I arrived a day earlier than Dione, and spread out while I could… this was my little corner:
I put all my dies on one of the tables so that people could check them out..
I have quite a few 🙂 I also brought my regular Go! cutter and the Baby Go! just in case we needed it…
It took me a few trips from the car to bring in all my stuff…. in between rain and hail storms!!!
Starting to cut my Scraps
Like I said, I spread out a bit on the first day…
By the time I went to bed Friday night, my whole body was aching… 🙂 But I got lots of scraps cut out!
I focused on 2 1/2″ strips, and 2 1/2″ squares… (affiliate links)
Other Scrap Cutters!
Meanwhile, in the room next door, Judy and Raylene (who had also arrived a day early) were busy cutting as well..
We were so busy, I didn’t even blog the weekend like I did the past two times… Not sure who was cracking the whip, but even our morning tea breaks were quick so we could keep working…
Judy and Raylene’s piles of cut up scraps were looking great too:
Look at all the yummy half square triangles with points already cut off:
Judy used this die (affiliate link) to cut them, and I borrowed it as well for some of my scraps…
Between the three of us, we had quite a lot of Accuquilt Go! dies to play with, and after my full day and a half of cutting scraps, I decided to play with some of the other dies on Saturday… but this post is long enough, so I’ll be back in a few days with more retreat stories and pictures!
Do you have an Accuquilt Go! cutter and dies? And if so, do you use them?!

What a great time! Yes, I have a ton of dies and love to use my Accuquilt cutter!
We will look forward to seeing what you put together in the near future!
Oh, my! Look at all those scraps! I have some in a little container! Ha. Look at all those dyes! Envious! I have the Accuquilt Go cutter and love it so far. Have not been well enough to use it a lot. Spent 5 days in the hospital with a blood infection. Trying to recover from square one now. Every once in awhile our local quilt shop does free demonstrations of things to do with it. I have not been able to attend yet but am sure I could learn a lot. I just have the 8 inch block Go Cube set, separate 6 and one half inch dye, 3 and one half inch dye and the 2 and 1/2 inch strip cutter. There is more I hope to learn to use that for beside the strips. I read where you should store the dyes upright. How do you store yours to be ready to use. Also I read the mats should be stored flat. Do you put something between each one? The Accu Go cutter is great for people that have a problem with their shoulders and arms using the cutting mat and ruler.
I can’t wait to learn what all you do with yours. Fun! Nancy .
What a fun way of getting together for a retreat. It will be great to see what you create with all those great cut up shapes …
I do believe that you gals had a ‘cutting’ up time–
now there is lots of sewing in your future–
have fun–luv, di
Looks like great fun! Just wondering….of all of your dies, which do you use the most? Just got a Go! cutter and looking to purchase some dies. Will have to start slowly to get those I need. Thanks!
Hi Joy! I was enjoying Dione’s post earlier this week, and she showed all the dies you brought with you. HOLY MOLY! You were quite productive. All of you were. What a fun retreat, and I had to giggle at the imaginary whip being cracked to keep y’all on task for cutting. Nice job! I wish I wasn’t a whole continent away. ~smile~ Roseanne
I don’t own one, but boy it looks like you can power thru lots of fabric. Retreats are always wonderful. Enjoy. X
From a Fowl to an Owl Thanks for a Joyful weekend. We all had lots of fun & worked hard for great results. Looking forward to chapter 2 💕
What a great way to use all the dies – but what a load to cart in and out – but the results are great. I have a go cutter and a number of dies – I don’t use it much – it does waste some fabric – but it is more accurate than cutting!! what a shame I don’t live closer..that could have been a lot of fun!
Ooh, pity I missed this. I’d have really enjoyed ggetting some of my scraps cut & used. Maybe a weekend for us once we are both settled later this year. I’ve lost my contacts list on email, so can’t get in contact with anybody unless they send me an email. It’s been a pain with no decent way to contact family & friends. Take care & huggles.
Thanks Joy for coming, was a lot of fun. Looking forward to your next post.
Nope, don’t have one of those – but I can see they are useful for cutting a lot of fabric in a hurry. Now the trick is to sew it all back together again….hee hee.
I have a cutter and a few dies…what a great idea to have a retreat! I use mine to cut shapes for wool applique as well. Only two layers of wool can be cut at a time, but it’s a great time saver, and so accurate! Please keep your posts coming…while I don’t always comment, I adore everything you post…you’re a true inspiration!
No, it isn’t in my budget. =) Maybe one of these days, but you know you don’t miss what you’ve never had. LOL You were all work horses indeed! I’m impressed with how many dies you have, and yet there was one you didn’t have! Amazing! Judy was so nice to make a special weekend for you all. If I ever get to Oz, I hope she’s one of the people I meet, after reading about her retreats.
