I need to stop blinking… because whenever I do, the days seem to disappear… I have however, been using my time wisely by getting my sewing stuff organized!
Being “stuck” in Australia has meant that I haven’t been travelling, getting jetlag, getting over jetlag, getting into a routine, and then travelling again, etc, etc….. so I have actually managed to unpack and sort things that have been through three international moves in the past two years!!
It’s been a bit like Christmas, but also a bit overwhelming – because as you know, before things get better, they usually get worse…
I also seem to keep finding zips everywhere………..
Yep, still need to finish organizing that washing basket full of odds and ends…
So, first thing I did was find my handy dandy label machine, and all my free Tupperware containers I’ve received over the past few months:
I’ve also been saving jars… which are handy because they don’t need labels:
I had been using icecream containers in the lower shelves, but as I get free modulars, I am slowly swapping them out:
I like that not only are they labeled, but I can also see how full they are…
The cupboard they are in, by the way, is one made by my clever Dad – from pallets found on the side of the road 🙂
As I was unpacking/organizing boxes, I found a few quilts that hadn’t had a proper photo shoot, including this one:
I took them out to my friend Annies, and will share more photos in another blog post.
I am loving what I am “finding” in boxes and bags that haven’t been unpacked for maybe a year or more!
One thing I did realize, is that I have lots and lots and lots and lots of scraps…
In August last year Dione and I spent the weekend at Judy’s playing with our Go Cutters (affiliate link)_… and I cut out heaps of scraps:
Well, I still have heaps more to cut and I am hoping to get some of that done this month… but in the meantime I have decided that I need to not just cut them and store them in nice Tupperware containers with labels.. I need to use them!!
So, I’m going to host a Mystery Quiltalong… starting on Wednesday.. using a lot of 2 1/2″ squares since I have two modulars full…. plus more to be cut out….
It is going to be a super easy, scrappy, mystery quilt… I hope you will join in!
In other news… Facebook disabled my account, for who knows what reason, so I have started a new one… if you have received a friend request from me, then know it really is me and that I haven’t been hacked!
I will also start a new group since I can’t access the Stitching with Joy group anymore… more on that on Wednesday….
Well that is it from me today, I’ll be back on Wednesday for the Scrappy Mystery Quilt Step 1!
Welcoming to see a post from you! Nice to know what it keeping you busy during the quarantine! A QAL sounds like fun!
Wow – a good job organising – I would be lost without my label maker! Good Luck with those scraps – they can get a bit overwhelming at times!
oh my goodness your place looks well organised…. will be great to use up those scraps and I will watch… I ahve a few too many things on to join in this time ….. thanks for the heads up about the fb account… I did ignore it thinking it was a hack… great to see you back blogging…

Am I reading the right blog…….That is organisation plus. Must get over to see you before long, but glad to see you back in blogland for now. Will be looking forward to Wednesday as I’ve finished my QAL with Sandra & although plenty of my own stuff to work on, do enjoy an easy QAL & seeing what everyone else does too. Take care, stay safe & huggles.
Your organisation looks fantastic, Raylene is very proud of you. She is here still, and we could be interested in your Mystery. Keep us posted, although I don’t promise to keep up, but could try. Am behind on Rachelle’s mystery project and now am spending LOTS of time reading blogs of new friends since Chooky’s zoom meeting. And also need to find some time to get back with Max. Scraps take a lot of time to organise, glad my fairy is here doing that for me.
You are a lady after after my own heart ❤️. Love your organisation!! I’d love to have a go at your mystery quilt, Judy has promised me unlimited use of her 2.5 strips. 😉
You are 1 of my kind of people… a great organiser! I’m here at Judy’s, doing my ‘thing’ warm, cosy & busy. I’d like to participate in your mystery quilt, if I can hook-up. Skills in that dept. aren’t good. Cheers Raylene
Hi Joy, Don’t know where my e-mail I wrote went! I could not believe all those jars you have of things. You certainly have been organizing. I won’t be joining your mystery quilt as am still working on a scrap quilt. I am still dealing with chronic fatigue syndrome and arthritis so have been using my time for my garden mostly lately. Love your posts. Nancy
Oh how I love a scrappy mystery. I need to work on better organization, too. I have gotten in the habit now that when I finish a project, I cut , sort, & put away the scraps. I plan to get my fabric stash wrapped on comic boards this month. That will give me a better idea of what I have in yardage. It is like Christmas every time I “organize” my fabric. Looking forward to Wednesday.
Those label makers are handy gadgets, I’ve been cutting lots of scraps lately, I should give my Go cutter a try, I bought it ages ago but haven’t used it yet. I do have a die that cuts 2 1/2″ squares so maybe I should give it a try.
Goodluck sorting the fabrics and scraps…your looking very organised and yes it will be worse before it gets better….. . Hope you get a few starters for your mystery…..
FB is a pain in the tush! It’s why I don’t join. LOL Your organization is to make me jealous, and I’m jealous you have a dad who makes you nifty cabinets like that, too. So how are you getting free containers? That part I missed somewhere. I’ll be here for the mystery, as I need something to get me back in the saddle.
It certainly must feel like Christmas as you’re going through what was packed away. I imagine you’re getting lots of inspiration at the same time (as your sew-a-long is going to attest). I won’t play along because I simply don’t have the stash of cottons (particularly after making all those masks). If you keep your eye on my blog in the next couple of weeks I’ll show what I AM planning to do. I think, anyway. Too bad about Facebook – wonder what they thought was objectionable.
Good to have the time to organise your bits and pieces – I find it clears the mind, as well as the boxes. I may have to have a peek at your qal – I have far too many scraps, but really aren’t needing to start something new…hmmm…
Your organization looks beautiful and is so inspiring. Thanks for sharing. And I have lots of 2.5″ squares, so I’m hoping to join the mystery quiltalong. Can’t wait.
How did you get free Tupperware?
