Time for Step 4 of our Scrappy Mystery Quilt-a-long!
Today we are going to be working with the strips we made on Monday and the half square triangles we made last week…
STEP 4 OF THE JUNE 2020 SCRAPPY MYSTERY QUILT-A-LONG!
We’ll be making these:
Basically just sewing the half square triangles to the strips as in the picture above. If you are confident to do that, then go for it! If not, keep reading…
Divide the half square triangles into two piles and place them on either side of the strips like this:
Move the strips next to the sewing machine, and put the pile on the right next to the pressure foot like this:
Chain sew them together:
You’ll end up with this:
To chain sew the next half square triangles on, flip the strips around:
And the half square triangles too:
And sew….
You will end up with a pile like this, that need pressing….
Press away from the half square triangles:
And you’re done!!
And this is where we are at now:
I have also started my scrappy Christmas version with leftover jelly rolls strips:
I think I am going to love this version!
In other news… the chookies have decided that they like my wheelbarrow veggie garden…
I was wondering why the tops of my spring onions were disappearing…..!
I’ll be back on Friday with the next step in our Scrappy Mystery Quilt-a-long!
I’m catching up fast! It’s easier to get it done when I stay home! lol
We made the mistake of showing our chickens fresh cherry tomotos in the garden
and then they ate them without us and my DH was not happy with the ‘cuteness’! lold
Ohhhh it’s starting to take shape……! Ha yes, chickens and their scratchings…! I’m sure they will be forgiven when the eggs appear 🙂
I don’t think you can have chickens out and vegetables too!! Looking forward to seeing your mystery evolve, I haven’t started, too many other irons in the fire at the moment, but the fairy is working on it, using my scraps, so does that count?
The Fairy ‘is’ loving it. Thank you for the clear instructions & photos. The little grey cells need all the help they can get. I can see Harriet & Beatrice are loving their new home 🐓🐓
I found you through Susan at Desert Sky quilting. I finished steps 1 and 2 yesterday and working on 3 today. Hope to be caught up soon.
The mystery is looking good so far. Had to laugh when I read about the chickens eating the green onions – perhaps they appreciate the flavour?
