Welcome to the Christmas in July (then and now) Blog Hop hosted by the lovely Carol from Just Let Me Quilt! Today I have some free Christmas Stitcheries… from back then and from now!
You know how much I love Christmas in July, but this month has not been a normal Christmas in July month for me… I seem to be completely off track….
I still wanted to join this blog hop though, and when I was trying to think of what I would do, I thought it would be nice to give away an old pattern of mine, as well as the third free ornament for this month.
So for the “then” or the old project I have this pattern for you:
It’s one that I made way back in 2010! Yes, way back “then”!
Update! the Christmas Hearts Pattern is
no longer available for free,
but can be purchased in our etsy shop here!
It’s fun to see how my style has changed, as have my fabric choices between then and now… Now I seem to be going more for the brighter, less country style fabrics and colors…
So for the “now” of this blog hop, is the third ornament… and I seem to be going backwards with these – the first one I stitched up, the second one I traced, and this one… well… here it is:
Update: These blocks are no longer free but will be available soon in our Etsy Shop.
I guess it just means I have lots to do still and won’t get bored anytime soon! I just need my mojo to return!
I hope that you will enjoy these free stitcheries and there are LOTS more fun projects to check out in this blog hop! You can see the full list here on Carol’s blog, and here are the others who are posting today:
Do go and visit all the other bloggers, there are some great projects and giveaways!
You can also check out my last post that has a free pattern as well for this place mat:
Thank you so much for dropping by today and thanks to Carol for hosting this fun hop! We all hope you get some Christmas cheer and fun from this hop!
Your stitcheries are SO charming! Thanks so much for making them available to us!
Your work is just lovely. I’ld be afraid to use the placemat and ruin the embroidery.
I think we were slaves to the fabric available to us so much of the time! Things are much better now because the selection is broader, don’t you think? Very nice to pull out the old projects though because they unlock such sweet memories! Nice ornament–I will do doing them, I haven’t started yet, unfortunately!
Joy as always your designs are so sweet and so full of true feelings of Christmas. I love how your choices have evolved over the years. Thanks so much for sharing your talents with us by giving us your patterns to use.
Your stitcheries are just so sweet. I love how you used them in the placemat too. What a fun way to spice up the holidays!
Your stitching is beautiful in these. I love all the little details…so sweet! The place mat is adorable with that sweet new ornament on it. Thank you so much for the patterns and for sharing your then and now!
My “style” has changed over time as well. I don’t care for muted colors that much any more. Thanks for the lovely ornament patterns. I look forward to stitching them some day.
Thanks so much Joy for the lovely stitcheries! I love them all! Thanks for all you share with us!
I think our styles do evolve over the years. Remember when folk art was ‘the thing’…and macrame? Favoured colours seem to come and go too. Yay – another blog hop and fun places to visit.
Oh, such cute stitchery! Love that placemat idea with a pocket for the utensils! Brilliant.
And thank you for the free stitchery patterns!
You do such beautiful embroidery. This is just a lovely pattern. Thank you for the free download. This will make beautiful gifts for the holidays.
I am in love with the fabrics in your placemats. They are gorgeous and so are your stitcheries. Thanks for taking time to share inspiration with us.
I enjoy your stitchery and appreciate that you share! Thank you.
Love all of your projects! Thank you for sharing.
Joy, your projects are beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing them. I am going to download and maybe give some handstitching a try. I usually just machine embroider, but your stitching is lovely. Thanks for the patterns. Love, hope and joy – perfect for Christmas – and all year! Blessings!
I’m always on the look-out for hand stitchery motifs. Thank you. Great ideas and very sweet projects. Christmas may be 5 months away but it’ll be here before we know it.
Cute stitcheries. Love your placemat.
Your stitches are lovely and thank you for the patterns. WOW, love the placemat!!!
Your stitching is fabulous! These are beautiful projects!!
Hi Joy, Thank you for the heart stitcheries. Even though it was long I ran it off as that is how I operate best and who knows when I will get to it. I seem to be able to mostly only get the necessities done lately with this CFS. Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing! Nancy
Those are such sweet little stitcheries! Thank you so much for sharing them!
A Big Thank You! Love all of your lovely projects. Thank you for sharing.

Joy your Christmas stitcheries are so sweet. I agree that our tastes do change and love seeing how other people notic and comment on their changing tastes. I think then and now designs are both fabulous. Thank you for sharing with all of us.

Lovely little stitches!

The Christmas hearts are beautiful. Thanks for the patterns.
Your projects are so sweet. Thanks so much for sharing your patterns.
What a cute placemat! Your stitching is so neat and pretty. Thanks for the patterns!
How did I miss your post on Monday??? I love what you did with these designs. Thanks for the new block ornament. The original hearts and joy wall hanging almost looks like you stitched on hanky material. I love the look of that golden Christmas.
A great project, it is very interesting looking back on our older projects and seeing what we liked then compared to what we would select now if we were to remake a project.
This is so beautiful Joy. Your stitchery and your stipple quilting is just perfect. I truly hope I can become as good as that someday. I’ve been practicing my FMQ more and more these days as I’m working on a project where I’m painting on the fabric and then doing FMQ over it to finish it with the details and such. Thus I showed off traced patterns with FMQ for my bh project, but I need to get better at the just think and stitch it type. You are obviously there and it’s beautiful.
