And Then it Snowed…

Did I just say that it was Spring Down Under? Yesterday I read in the paper that Winter was on its way for a final goodbye… and what a goodbye it was!
Now for those of you who have LOTS of snow, this is nothing… but for us here it is a big deal! I have never seen it snow so steadily and for so long, like it did today. It was snowing for over two hours, and didn’t melt as soon as it hit the ground…
Does this look like Spring to you?!
Our lovely pear tree is in full blossom…
And my herb garden in a wheelbarrow… well… the spring onions need picking and the oregano, chives and rosemary got covered in a nice blanket of snow…..
I hadn’t put anything in my little greenhouse from Ikea yet:
But I suppose if I had they would have been well protected…
The garden fairies were tucked away in their little house:
They didn’t want to come out to play… nor did Sapphy by the way….
She was most unimpressed at being dragged out for a photo shoot!!
It’s funny because Brenda from Songbird Designs and I had just been discussing snow, and I told her that we hardly ever got any…. and if we did, it never stayed on the ground for long…..! Well, today it did for longer than usual…
I could look at snow all day long… but sadly after two and a half hours it melted…. now I really do wish I could move to Alaska…. and enjoy real snow that stays around more than a few hours!
What about you… do you like snow and does it snow where you live?
I live in Texas and it only snows once in a while. Really just enough.
Yes, it snows here in the mountains of Western North Carolina in the US. Where we are, we can get snowed in for four or five days at a time with 8+inches on the ground, and no way to get down the mountain other than to hike down. But, we are retired, so we just enjoy the pristine white until it melts.
No snow here today but very cold. Great day to stay in doors to knit and stitch. 😁😁🌺
It snows a lot here in the winter. I really love it in December for Christmas, I tolerate it in January, I dislike it in February, and in March and April I loathe snow! LOL
I live in Michigan, in the USA. Except in the occasional very mild winters, we get a lot of snow. We have had as much of 15 inches fall at one time. Usually it is just several inches at a time. Because the temperatures are usually near freezing, it tends to stick around and accumulate. We have live in the city, so we have to keep our sidewalks shoveled. Between that and the city road plows coming through, the snow doesn’t look pristine. I love to walk in a gently falling snow, especially at night. It is so beautiful and peaceful.
We get a lot of snow here in Michigan. The only time I like snow is around Christmas time for the holidays. It is quite beautiful and serene at night when all have gone to sleep and I love to see it sparkling on the trees when the sun shines on it. But….. give me mild spring, summer, and fall days and I am very happy.
Well you know what I think of snow and cold and why I am back in Florida–the sunshine state!!!
Though I would love snow for Christmas–but the rest of the time–oh I love watching it fall to the ground–so pretty and soft–but it also got to where in NY it only snowed at night so one couldn’t really watch it snow—!!
luv, di
Ha! Saphie looks like I do in snow! lol
The pics are sure pretty, though!
It does look magical…..

Well you should know me well enough to know that I enjoy all seasons, except for prolonged periods of dull grey days. We lived in Batlow, part of the south/west slopes of The Great Dividing Range in N.S.W. & it snowed every winter, also had it occasionally during our time in Hobart, as well as the two times we lived in Ballarat. Here we’ve had flurries in the air, but never settles on the ground. We’ve certainly had some rain though & wind. Hope the pear sets fruit after this. I’ve finished “IT”, even down to the label (big grin under the mask) ha,ha! When out walking & people look worried with their masks on, I tell them I’ve smile under mine & that usually sparks them up a little. Take care & we’ll talk soon.
That totally looks like spring in my area. We can get snow 12 months of the year and do some years, although snow in June, July and August is rare (thankfully).
I like snow for a few days only but not the bitter cold we sometimes get. Nancy
I saw a few other posts of snow – we had a very hot day in Brisbane – 30…I’d happy swap.
Good old Victoria!!! LOL
No snow here either but your pics are lovely even if Sappy doesn’t like it…
Lovely photos Joy! I hope it hasn’t done too much damage to your plants. No we don’t get snow here…although we have seen it once on some hills in the distance!
Very pretty photos JOy, but you can keep your snow. Great to catch up with you on Zoom, it has been a fun time, and will post your parcel this morning, so you can get sewing!
brrrrr – I don’t want to think about it! We’ve been enjoying a few more days of warmth here but we know it’s only a matter of time until we dealing with the dreaded white stuff.
never get snow here……..it does look pretty at your place……….so different this weekend…..so warm………
