Well, I think all the snow excitement made me totally forget to blog this week! I have been busy with sewing.. buying new fabric and plotting another Quiltalong….
First up though, I have to mention the special afternoon tea I had last Saturday…
Judy hosts an “In the Pink Retreat” every year to raise funds for the BCNA. With all the restrictions this year, Judy got creative and hosted a bunch of afternoon teas on Zoom instead of a weekend….
I got my pink teapot, pink headphones and pink (head)scarf ready…
But I think we were all outpinked by The Pink Fairy…
No event is ever boring when Judy’s Fairy is there!
It was lovely to catch up with the ladies from South Australia, and I said that as soon as the borders open up I will drive over there to see them in person…..
Judy was also selling some fabric kits with part of the proceeds going towards the BCNA… so I bought a teeeny bit of fabric….. 🙂
Ok, so maybe a bit more than a teeeeeeeny bit.. but it is all for a good cause! I bought two quilt kits, and this is what is inside the two cases at the back:
Yes… scraps… like I don’t have enough of my own.. but you do know that other people’s scraps are much nicer than ones own, don’t you?!
As far as sewing last week, I worked on a baby quilt:
Just need to put borders on it and it can go on Emmie G… but I have three more to tops to make first. I will then load them all onto a big piece of backing and quilt them at the same time.
I also worked on the wedges. I got them all cut out, and then started sewing the top wedges together:
And that’s when I realized I made a slight miscalculation and needed three more bits of fabric 🙂 So I’ve put them through the wash and hopefully get going on them tomorrow. I think from now it will go together pretty quickly… and as long as it all sits flat, I will be very happy!
In other news for October… I am getting ready for the “From the Heart Blog Hop hosted by the lovely Carol…
Here’s a little sneak peek of my project:
Last, but not least… I’ve got another quiltalong planned for October… I mean, now that I have some lovely new scraps I need a new project to use them in, right?
We’ll be starting on Monday… and like the last quiltalong, I’ll be posting a new step on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until we are done. I think there will be about 8 steps, but more on that on Monday.
Well, I hope you are having a lovely weekend… and I hope you join me on Monday for the new Quiltalong!
I enjoyed reading your post!
Lovely teeeeeny purchases and all for a good course …
Cute Baby Quilt and pleased you had enough fabrics to make the round project…
Look forward to seeing what you’ve made for the blog hop..
What a fun array of things to read about! My jaw dropped at the teeeeeny bit of fabric purchasing you did. Love it, and I’m looking forward to seeing what you create with it all.
What a fun Zoom party…love the pink! Can’t wait to see your “From The Heart” project, too.
I’m excited for a new quilt along! Someone else’s scraps are nicer, have fun with them.
I will drop by to check the quiltalong out. I really enjoyed the last one. Thank you for your generosity.
Lovely to see a blog post pop up & good to see your sewing mojo is back. I spoke to Judy last week too & said we’d be over as & when restrictions start easing, though I think we Victorians will not be welcome anywhere for a long time. Scraps………..your scrap bag here is full too, so a trip across before Xmas is likely & yes I’ll join in the next QAL, but also need to get the 2 baby quilts done soon. Both designs are ready to go, but I need a push to get motivation to start them. Looking forward to seeing the wedge quilts progress. Take care, stay safe & we’ll talk soon.
What fun to have that kind of Zoom meeting! Sorry you were out-pinked! lol
The new quilt is adorable! Let’s go for a QAL!
Judys Pink Zoom was amazing, as well as raising a staggering amount of money, it connected quilting friends who I’ve missed a lot. I hope we will catch up when you can CROSS THE BORDER. 🧚♂️
If the fairy is at Judy’s then there is never quiet time…..she does look pretty good as a pink fairy……so sad I missed all the morning teas…behind in blog reading……..
I like what you brought……I did a bit of damage also……..opps I mean donation……..lets make it sound positive,……..
Wished I could go visit also……….
Love the baby quilt and so disappoitned I missed those scrap budles..oh well – another time.
New fabric is always FUN!! And as you say, for a great cause!! The baby quilt is really cute. Looking forward to seeing your project for Carol’s blog hop! Have fun stitching this week! I’m working on my Halloween Hoppin’ blog hop that Marian hosts and also my project for From the Heart! It’s going to be a busy month! LOL
Hi Joy, You sure do have fun! I am sure at some point you will use all the material. Love the baby quilt. Nancy
It’s amazing how creative people are being with Covid and the lockdowns restricting their usual activities…good on Judy continuing on with her fundraising via Zoom. It sounds like fun. Nothing wrong with a teeny amount of shopping, especially for a good cause…! Cute baby quilt too 🙂
