Time for Step 3 of the Bee Happy Quiltalong!
I hope you have all had a great weekend and are ready for the next step in the Bee Happy Quiltalong… today we will be cutting and sewing…
STEP 3 OF THE BEE HAPPY QUILTALONG
What you need to cut:
TEN 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ strips of background fabric
TEN 3 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ strips of background fabric
Remember the pieces of fabric we had left over from step 1? Start with these because they are already 12 1/2″ wide. You can cut four 3 1/2″ strips from each piece, with a narrow strip left over (fabric is double):
The rest of the strips can be cut from three 3 1/2″ strips width of fabric.
Once these are cut, we will start sewing them to the 9 patches we made in step 2, starting with the 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ strips:
Press seams towards the 9 patch and then sew on the 3 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ strips:
I like to use pins.
Press towards the 9 patch and you are done!
I did trim the scrappy 9 patches because they were a little bit out:
And they are patiently waiting at my sewing machine for their sashing, while I write this blog post…
In other news…
My circle wedge quilt is getting there…
When I took a quick break today, I covered them with a quilt.. just in case this happened:
She was very comfy….
What is it with cats and quilts?

Fun! I love the pic of Saphy on the quilt-I sewed all the bindings on mine with Lena weighing them down for me!
Clever idea to pop a quilt over your wedges … looking forward to seeing the circle put together.
Quilt pieces need to be kept warm while they’re being sewn together – every kitty knows that and takes their responsibility for same quite seriously.
