It’s been a busy few days and I haven’t done any sewing since the weekend.. so I thought instead of doing the next step of our QAL today, I’d combine it with the one on Friday.
Today is a catch-up post of the fun day I had last Saturday zooming with bloggy friends!
Chooky Blue hosted a Zoom sewing day for us on Saturday.. it was open for us to drop in from 6am till 10pm…. Since I am NOT an early bird, I started around 11.30 and ran out of steam around 8 hours later!
I set up my laptop next to my sewing table like this:
And it worked quite well I thought. I had plenty of space to sew, and still got a good view of everyone on the screen.
It was so much fun to see blog friends that I had met in real life, blog friends that I was meeting in “zoom life”, and new bloggers that I hadn’t met before!
I spent most of the day sewing together the wedges for my round quilt..
I sewed them together in quarter sections, and laid the sections over Emmie G while I sewed the next lot…
Guess who thought they made a nice little cubby house?!
I was so pleased to get the quilt top done.. but I didn’t have enough space to lay it out, so I headed over to mum and dad’s on Sunday night to get a pic of it on their king size bed:
I really like how it has turned out, and hope my customer does too 🙂 Next up I need to get it quilted, and then at the end I will put something in the middle.
It was a great day of sewing, and so long since I had spent uninterrupted time in the sewing room… so thank you Chooky for organizing this for us, and I look forward to the next one!
I’ll be back here on Friday with the last steps for the Bee Happy Quiltalong!
My quilting group Zooms twice a week for about 3 hours each Tuesday and Thursday. It all started as a replacement for our retreat that was cancelled in the spring. I have been thrilled with the opportunity to meet regularly with “quilty” friends, talk family, quilting techniques, show our accomplishments and laugh with each other. Our gatherings help keep us mentally healthy when we are trying to stay safe and not gather in large groups. A secondary benefit is more quilts are being finished and number of acquaintances becoming friends. :~)
Happy that you and your circle of friends experienced the same thing. What fun to know we are part of an international experience.
That is beautiful. I am glad you got that done and enjoyed Zoom time with your quilting friends.
What fun!! Running to Chooky’s now!
It looks like a nice way to stitch with friends! The wedge quilt is really shaping up–fascinating!
What fun. I miss getting together with my quilty friends! Zoom is a great platform. That quilt is stunning. Can’t wait to see it quilted!! Yes, I saw your little supervisor there! LOL
Your zoom meetings sounds fun. Your project is so pretty! Nancy.
I really like your circle quilt.
Ah, Zoom! I saw that Judy joined in too. I think you are all very clever to do these techy things & still have the enjoyment with your quilting pals through media. Love the circle quilt. Talk soon. Take care, stay safe & hugs.
What a great quilt
I joined Chookyblue too – but not until late in the day – so must have missed you – perhaps next time !!
You were well organised for the zoom meeting Joy, and got plenty done too! Well done on the circle quilt, it looks great! It was lovely to see you 🙂
Joy was so lovely to join the zoom and I’m glad you had a great time…. Always wonderful to make new bloggy friends…… See you online next time…..
It was wonderful to se you at Chooky’s. Love your quilt you are working on. Zoom is a great way to keep in touch with everyone and meet new blogging friends. Cats always find the best places!!
love your round quilt, beautiful fabrics.
Zooming is a great way to still keep in touch during these times…
I haven’t figured out the mysteries of Zoom but I understand it’s a great thing. Lovely that you could have a visit with everyone and not have to leave home to do it. Your quilt is looking spectacular!
