I must say we have had a wonderful summer so far…. well, not everyone would agree with me, because on average it has been nice and cold! But I have been enjoying it…
We’ve also had lots of rain and stormy weather… and one day I walked out to find a couple of branches fallen off the Nashi tree…. I tossed them in with the chooks and they thought the pears were great!
No wonder a few branches broke off, there were so many nashi’s on the tree:
I’ve been picking heaps of them, and started harvesting some other goodies from the garden… including eggs of course:
Talking about nashis… the birds have been having a feast… I was on the phone with Susan and told her we had birds in the pear tree.. I think they are Lorikeets… but I am not great with identifying birds. I do know for sure they aren’t partridges….. in my pear tree…
After getting off the phone with Susan, I tried to take a photo before they flew away… I had to zoom right in to see anything… but you can get a little glimpse here…
I forgot to post my February goals…. I did fill them in and DD’s bunny was very interested in them…
Shouldn’t leave my Happy Planner lying around, it might get nibbled on!
Here is a closer look:
As you can see I haven’t put much on it… with my health issues slowing me down, I decided to be realistic for a change about how much I can achieve outside my daily chores… oh and DH’s household shipment is arriving this month, so that will need sorting and tidying!
I should also plant some more lettuce… need to write that on my list!
So there you go…. my goals, my chickens and my garden….
What is happening in your backyard at the moment?
In my backyard there is a foot of snow not going anywhere since the temperatures are way below freezing. I do enjoy looking out the window at the trees and bushes with the snow on them. They are so pretty, especially those few moments when the sun peeks out from the cloud cover.
Beautiful chickens in their perfect coop and yard! I’m glad it has been a summer just right for you–too much heat would zap what energy you have!
Looks like you will have a great pear harvest…if the birds don’t get them first! What a treat for your chooks!! I love your Happy Planner. Which version is that, Joy?
That is a lot of fruit on each branch. It looks delicious though. I like the planner. Good idea to keep your goals realistic. I wish you the best for them.
Wow – that’s a lot of fruit! It’s no wonder the branches are falling off with all that weight. The chickens are enjoying them and no doubt are hoping for more.
As for here, it’s been cold but at least the sun is shining today and that makes you feel as though it’s nice outside. We haven’t had too much snow in this actual area so – touch wood – the winter hasn’t been too awful.
Yes, yes…..a lorikeet & we’ve had lots just lately making untold noise in the trees around us. I’m up to 30kgs for blueberries & finally some tomatoes are ripening. Although I’ve enjoyed the cooler summer, I don’t like quite so much the grey & wind, which has been really bad over our side. Planner……..I must remember to print mine out & get more organised. Hope to see you soon. Take care, stay safe & hugs.
All your produce sounds great. Fabulous you have an abundance of Nashi pears….enough to satisfy all. Summer is nearing an end, I will miss it.
Hi Joy, Everything sounds peaceful. I love your daughter’s little bunny. Hope your feeling better each day. Nancy
Love Nashi pears. The tree is sure loaded. Lovely harvest from your garden. My garden is being dug up, need to transplant my plants as I’m moving house. Hugs, xx
