Yesterday I went to visit a family friend to pick up a quilt… and admire her lovely crochet projects….
Jean is a lovely lady who used to be Mum and Dad’s neighbor…. she is 92 years young, and such an inspiration!
I hadn’t been to see her for over a year, so it was lovely to catch up with her.
Jean spends most of her time crocheting and knitting, and her home is full of her finishes…
She said she was working on using up all the little scraps of yarn she has, and just finished this one:
And is working on this one:
But the main reason I dropped in was because she had been doing some tidying, and came across a quilt top that she finished years ago.. but hadn’t quilted it yet… and was wondering if I could finish it for her…
Of course I said I would… and it’s now hanging on Emmie G waiting for me to load and quilt:
Isn’t it pretty?
In other news….
I moved my design wall to a better position:
…and got all three “Let’s Stay Home” blocks in their correct position…
Talking about Staying Home… tonight our state goes into another hard 7 day lockdown… thankfully I have plenty to do..
In other, other news…
Last Friday I joined in on FNSI and worked on some scrappy blocks:
And then on Sunday night, Alice and I Skype sewed again and I finished putting the squares around all 12 blocks:
These scrappy blocks were ones I started as part of my Scrappy Mystery Quilt last year. I am doing this one different though. I put a white square in the middle, and I didn’t do the corner half square triangles.
I need to do sashing next and then a scrappy border I think… hopefully I’ll get more done on it soon.
I am planning another quilt along… so stay tuned… and to all of you who are stuck at home like we will be for the next week or so, Stay Home and Stay Safe!
What a wonderful visit! Her work is indeed beautiful! I like the granny squares-always in style! I’m so glad you can get her top done for her-how excited she will be! Be safe!
I love all the scrappiness. Very pretty. Thank you for sharing. 🙂
That’s a very pretty quilt. So sorry to hear you are heading into lockdown again. Our state will be 100% open on 5/31! Of course, it’s pretty much open now with very few restrictions.
Lovely visit and her crochet is lovely… I also liked the scrappy quilt on her bed. Have fun quilting her pretty quilt and enjoy the week at home! love the look of youir new scrappy quilt blocks too
Hugz
So glad you got to visit an old friend before our lockdown struck once again & her star quilt is so pretty. Wow, she must be one busy lady with lots of crochet also. Now, I thought you’d finished the scrappy squares one from last year, so did you start another as well? A second QAL? So will we be getting the rest of the instructions for Lets Stay Home and another set of instructions for the new one too. OK, enough and I’ll ring later today. Take care, stay safe & hugs.
Let’s Stay Home is a year long BOM, so no, you won’t be getting the rest of the instructions yet, sorry 😄 The QAL, will just be a four week one or so… xx
Your friend does lovely work – and good for her for trying to use up her stash. I’m working on mine too, but I seem to have to end up augmenting it in order to have enough colours/weight of what I need.
Lovely quilt top. All that fabulous crochet. Hugs, xx
glad you were able to see your old friend……shes made a lovely quilt………
keep busy during lock down……
Lovely crochet and a gorgeous quilt.
Glad you have plenty to keep busy … stay safe xx
The good thing about being a quilter is that lockdowns are perfect free quilting times! So sorry, I’m in lockdown is a great way to say no! =) That is a gorgeous little quilt. What a wonderfully talented friend.
Beautiful quilt to finish for a friend! Such lovely knitting and crocheting. Your scrappy quilt is coming along nicely. The white in the middle and no HST’s completely changes it up.
