Today we’re starting the first block in our Sewcial Quiltalong,
This Quiltalong is based on the Sewcialites Quiltalong hosted by the Fat Quarter Shop! (affiliate link). We will only be making four blocks this month, and then turning them into a wall hanging….
The first block I have chosen is Block #17 – Peace, by Anne Sutton of Bunny Hill Designs. Anne designs the most gorgeous quilts; do check out her website if you are are not familiar with her work!
This block is super quick and easy, and I love the way it looks… For this block, we only need to cut out 9 squares… and it is best not to use directional fabric. Here’s the fabric I chose:
I cut them out and then sewed the HST blocks, trimmed them, and laid them out:
Tomorrow I will sew them together and the first block will be done!
I will be sharing my progress in our Facebook Group “At Home With Joy” – if you aren’t already a member, just click the link, answer the questions, and you’ll be approved 🙂
If you aren’t on FB, send me an email with a photo, or post on your blog! I’d love to share your blocks here on the blog!

Watch the Tutorial For Block 1
You can watch the tutorial here on YouTube!
It is a very looooong video, but you can skip forward if you need to. I found the pattern to be clear enough though, and didn’t watch the video.
Fabric Choice Update
Oh, one more thing – I changed my mind on the fabric I am using! You can go back to this post to see what changed and why!! (Scroll down!)
Ok, that’s all for today… have a wonderful weekend, hope you sew lots!
got it and will complete block one soon enough! Thanks!
Love the pink and cream, Joy! Have fun!
OK.. ……….that shouldn’t take me long & I’m still pondering background colour. Take care & hugs.
Nice choice of block!
Lots happening at your place, hope your restrictions finish soon
Hi Joy, completed my block today. I made a six inch block so I could use my accuquilt go dye but have found it is hard for me to work with small pieces. Does anyone else struggle with that?
