Welcome to Day 2 of ‘It’s a Guy Thing” blog hop hosted by the lovely Carol from Just Let Me Quilt!
When I signed up for this hop, little did I know I would be in the middle of moving house 🙂
So instead of a brand new project, I have decided to share an old one…. that needs a bit of work done to it soon….!
It was back in 2009… I had been quilting for a while, and had not yet made hubby one…. Since he was paying for all my fabric, I decided it was time he got one!
I was working on this one for myself at the time:
and wanted to have a matching one for DH,…. without the pink…. you know, a His and Hers quilt set….
Since I didn’t want to take too long in making his, I decided to keep it simple, and came up with this:
Grandmother’s braid, and plain long strips of fabric in between….
I also made it extra long because hubby is tall…
It’ too long to hang in a single layer on the washing line the right way up…
I was quite happy with how it turned out, and so was DH.
That quilt has travelled the world… even going with us on business trips, a His and Hers set of quilts at hotels in Arabia…
In fact it has been so well loved that it is falling apart…
Let me give you a closer look…
The binding has got a funky look going on… and there are some holes appearing at the edges… so while this once was a finished project, it is now going back to the work room to get new backing and binding… I am hoping the top will stay together a bit longer!!!
Thanks so much for visiting today and thanks to Carol for hosting another great blog hop!

UPDATE – Oh, I forgot to tell you – the August Planning pages for quilters and crafters are available to download!!
I love that your his and hers quilts coordinate. We each have quilts but they’re entirely different colors and styles.
It’s a good sign, to have a well worn looking quilt!! And it’s a good design for a male as well 🙂
Love your ‘His & Hers’ quilts. Great patterns.
I love the idea of his and her quilts. My husbands resting body temperature is like a million degrees and I don’t usually like to share a blanket with him because I get too hot. I love this idea!
Gorgeous quilts!
Love it! The marriage of the Traveling Quilts! It’s not falling apart, it’s showing how loved it is. A new binding will extend the love for another millennia so get to it!
What great quilt sets. I love how his has been loved till it needs a little TLC now. That’s the best compliment a quilter can get!
Moving is so hard, but you were a trooper to share projects anyway. I love both of those quilts and the love and travel they’ve been a part of. Thank you for sharing, Joy! xo
What a fun concept of his and her quilts that traveled with you!! They are both great, Joy. Thanks for sharing!
Such a nice quilt.
Well used quilts are well loved! Thanks for sharing!

A much loved quilt which is sure to have its life extended with a few repairs.
What fun to have “his and hers” where ever you go. Love this idea and that the quilt is so well loved. Hope your move is going well.
Love the quilts and I love even more that they travel along with you…. wehn you do a new backing for DH’s quilt will you quilt again over it? I’m interested how you will do it…
Hugz
Both lovely. Congrats on the house.
Well now you need to either mend his beautiful braid quilt or make him a new one
I love this post! So much fun to read about a well-loved quilt like this. Inspiring to know your DH loves it to that extent.
Both nice quilts, and they do go together well.
It’s so great to see a quilt so loved that it’s falling apart, and I love the colors.
A trip down memory lane was a great idea for the hop. Thank you for sharing the magic.
that’s lovely and french braid quilts are NOT simple! you did a great job and it’s greatly loved!!
I do love your hubby’s quilt and I love that it shows how it too has been loved. GReat that you can give it a a pick me up without giving up on it.
Travelling his and hers quilts…..I love it. Better yet it’s so nice to read your hubby has loved his well enough that it needs a wee bit of TLC. Hope you are getting to the point where home is starting to feel like home again and the unpacking is progressing well.
I love the his and hers quilts! How do you plan on adding the backing?
Love the matching quilts. And looks like it was used with love! Best kind of gift out there.
That really has been loved to death! Easier to quilt a new one when Emmie G. is set up, though.
