I’m one day late… but yesterday was the last day we had the keys for the old house… and doing the last things before we gave the keys back took a bit longer than expected… so here we are, a little late, but I hope you are all ready for the Scrappy Christmas Mystery QAL Part 5

This next part we’ll be doing some piecing… and the start of some applique!
WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE SCRAPPY CHRISTMAS MYSTERY QAL PART 5
THIRTY-SIX 2 1/2″ squares
Steam-a-Seam (affiliate link) or other iron on adhesive
The pattern below:
Please read through till the end before you start!
SCRAPPY CHRISTMAS MYSTERY QAL PART 5 ~ STEP 1
Using the 2 1/2″ squares, make FOUR 9 patches:
SCRAPPY CHRISTMAS MYSTERY QAL PART 5 ~ STEP 2
Like we did for the Christmas Tree Mug Rug, print out the applique pattern above and trace four trees onto the Steam-a-Seam.
Iron one to the back of each of the 9 patches we just made and cut them out.
Please note this Christmas tree template is bigger than the one we used for the mug rug!
If you like, you can make your 9 patch with all green squares to make a green Christmas tree.. .or go scrappy like I am going to. Here’s a look at both options:
You should now have 4 scrappy applique trees to add to the rest of the mystery pieces!
And that’s all for this part…..
Updated Christmas in July Plans
Well, as I said at the beginning of July, I had a plan….. but since I was moving, it could possibly change… and it did 🙂
I still have Christmas things to share with you, so here is the revised plan…
This Friday I’ll put up part 6 of our Scrappy Mystery QAL… and then next Monday we’ll be putting it all together…
Then on the 25th of August, September, October and November, I’ll be posting some more mug rug patterns and other Christmas goodies that I planned to post about last month.
I’ll also be putting up two tutorials on how to finish mug rugs… that will be in the next couple of weeks….
Well, thank you all for being patient with me during my move!
It was such a relief to hand the keys to our rental home back to the agents… and now I can concentrate on unpacking everything here…. I am getting there bit by bit… but it is going to take a while….
I think there will be no QALS in August, other than finishing this Christmas one!!
See you on Friday,
I am enjoying making the Scrappy Christmas quilt and I can hardly believe you are moving at the same time. WOW
Ahhh, finally home again! good for you. Let the unboxing begin!
I think it’s pretty impressive that you’ve managed to do these tutorials AND move and unpack at the same time. Wonder Woman, indeed!
It’s looking good Joy… I like those scrappy trees…
Hugz
Love the little scrappy trees, Joy!!
A fun addition to the mystery.
