It’s time for Block 6 of our Let’s Stay Home BOM! This month it’s about preserving… aka canning!
While we are still in winter down south here, our northern friends are starting to harvest and preserve their fruit and veggies…
I love preserving, and have done so since I was a young bride. I haven’t preserved every year, but when I could, I did.
As a preserving newbie, I think the easiest thing to start with was making jam. My favorite is strawberry 🙂
So that is what this month’s block is about….
I’ve got my design wall leaning up against the wall in the hallway temporarily, and the light is not great, but here is how all the blocks we’ve done so far are looking:
What is your favorite type of jam?
another sweet block… I used to do lots of jams and fruit preserving …. when we had plenty of fruit in the garden…

I love these embroidered blocks. I have wanted to do some preserving for years, but never seem to get to it.
This is an awesome block, Joy! Reminds me of growing up. My mama made jellies and preserves from our home grown fruits. My favorites were her pear preserves and fig preserves. I don’t care for figs raw, but loved her preserves. Makes me homesick! LOL
Oh, lovely! I really like to make jam! Good memories!
I used to love making preserves, pickles primarily. The smell of them cooking on the stove was wonderful! Now I rarely am able to do any because we don’t have any sort of cool storage and they don’t keep well. We sometimes do a small batch of zucchini relish and often make a small batch of something to give at Christmas. Your block is so sweet!
My favorite I make is strawberry. My favorite Stacey makes is pineapple. What a great block to include! Don’t answer all these comments. I’m just catching up!
