Welcome to Day 1 of the Tickled Pink Blog Hop hosted by the lovely Carla from Creatin’ in the Sticks!
I’ve been looking forward to this hop because pink is my favorite color… and I love hearts… seeing that it is Valentine’s Day today, I am sure there will be lots of heart projects in this hop!
The project I made turned out to be dual purpose… I wanted to make a heart project for Accuquilt this month, and after I finished it I thought – oh, this would be perfect for the Tickled Pink blog hop! So I saved it for today….
Do you remember picking daisies and then systematically pulling the petals off them while saying – “he loves me… he loves me not….”? I wonder, do little girls still do that? The poor daisies…
Well, for this wall hanging only one petal was pulled off… and if you did pull off all the petals one by one, the answer to your question is that yes, you are loved….!
So that little rhyme was my inspiration for this project, and I am pleased to say that I used scraps for the whole thing! I was in the middle of unpacking things from storage and came across this container with Go! Applique Shapes from many years ago:
I managed to find enough pink hearts to put my plan into action…
I was also pleased that I found the perfect matching colored threads in a Tupperware container too!
I do love it when my organization finally pays off!
I did machine applique, using my 1/4″ foot, of all things..(Bernina #37) it’s the first time I’ve used that foot for applique, and discovered that if I lined the edge of the applique shape up with the inside of the foot, it was just right:.
(edited: I just remembered, I also moved the needle one notch to the right – don’t move it too much or you’ll break it on the foot!)
The dies the shapes were cut from were the Go! Hearts and the Go! Rose of Sharon (affiliate links).
You can get a free downloadable pdf pattern for this wallhanging on this Accuquilt Australia blog post, all the way down the bottom!
I do like the way the wall hanging turned out, but most of all that I am getting to the stage in my sewing studio where I have unpacked and sorted most things. It is amazing to be (almost) fully unpacked after more than 10 years!
Thank you so much for visiting today and thank you Carla for hosting this super fun blog hop!

Oh, and Happy Valentine’s Day!!! I’m sending you a virtual valentine because you are all very special to me, even if I haven’t met you!
Adorable Pink Hearts wall hanging for Valentines Day.
Such a cute little quilt! I remember doing the I Love You rhyme as a child.
Happy Love Day! That’s a very cute little wall quilt and yes, i remember pulling petals off of daisies too 🙂
I love your “daisies!” Great interpretation of the theme
Just catching up in this stifling heat and your heart is gorgeous. Well done for being so organised. Still can’t access your blog on anything other than my PC, so hence my absence of late. Take care & hugs.
Such a cute design! I can say that, even though I’m not a fan of pink. I like the old rhyme you used for inspiration which is a much nicer one than the one using dandelions that involved beheading the flower whilst chanting ‘momma had a baby and her head popped off’. Kids are definitely diabolical!
The perfect project for Valentines Day and Tickled Pink.
I just found a “must do”. Thanks Joy for such a sweet pattern, and for the tip about #37 foot. I had never considered it for my raw applique, but I will most definitely give it a whirl. Happy Valentines Day
I love your adorable wall hanging, and your inspiration of the daisy song for it! Organization is wonderful.
I love your wall hanging! It’s sew satisfying to use leftovers, isn’t it? Thanks for sharing and good luck with the rest of your unpacking. 🙂
Such a sweet project! I definitely remember destroying flowers while saying that rhyme lol.
Oh those infamous Tupperware containers! LOL!! What a score to find everything you needed in them, including the thread. Now that was planning way ahead! Love it. What a fun finish as well.
Beautiful project! I also love when I find a foot that just works with my machine to get the edge I want even if it is unconventional. Great work!
Such a cute pattern!
What a fun wall hanging, Joy! I love that your organization paid off, it is so nice when it does.
Adorable wall hanging! Thanks so much for sharing!
lol – about the unpacking. 🙂 I, too, love the color pink and your design using the hearts is absolutely perfect. Excellent.
Such a great project, Joy!! I love the “cakes” too!! The pinks are awesome. and I love the flower and circle centers! Thanks for sharing. I may have to grab that heart die from AccuQuilt! It’s been on my list for a while. And yes, I do remember picking daisies and pulling the petals! LOL
A very cute wall hanging. It’s great that you are getting better organized. I doubt that I ever will be organized.
How fun to find that little container of hearts. I still have some unpacking to do, but it’s only been 2 years for me. Your wall hanging turned out so adorable!
Love your wall hanging! I had to stare at your applique stitches to see what you did – very cool! Thank you for sharing!
pretty little wallhanging Joy, what fun that you are feeling more organised now…. soon there will be a whole lot of creating…

Hearts make great flowers (and 4-leaf clovers too) and your quilt is very sweet indeed.
Very pretty! I love hearts too, and a great way to use them.
This turned out lovely! The hearts make perfect petals!
