Are you ready for a new stitchery block of the month? I’m not as you know, which is why I am hosting the Gingerbread Village Block of the Month for a second time!
Thinking about it, I think I ran our first BOM Fruit of the Spirit twice too… which you can still find for free HERE if you missed it!
I know there were some of your that joined in on the Gingerbread Village BOM back in 2019… and you might have actually finished it… this is how far I got:
When I dug it out the other day, I noticed to my shock and horror that there is a brown stain on block 1…..Hmmm… if I can’t get it out, then I will have to stitch it again. Also the middle gingerbread house is looking like the Tower of Pisa… Will I redo it or just call it the Gingerbread House of Pisa???
If you have been following me for a while you will know that I do not aim for perfection because as it is I have trouble finishing things…
Anyway that is where I am at!
I know some of you have told me you didn’t know me back in 2019, so this will be a nice new BOM for you!
I’ve set up a new download page where you can get the patterns each month, they are free for a month, and then up for sale in our Etsy shop.
Materials Needed for the Gingerbread Village BOM
Background Fabric
You will need about a meter/yard of background fabric.
Assorted Scraps
As with most of my projects you can use your scraps. Or fat quarters. Use what you have!
Embroidery Thread
I like DMC, but you can use your favorite type.
Iron on lite weft – Optional.
This is a thin interfacing that I like to iron on the wrong side of my background fabric before I trace and stitch.
And I think that is about it!
This is Block 1:
And it’s ready on the download page, just click the button below!
Enjoy!
Just curious – did you join in and stitch any of them last time, or are you a complete newbie?

Those are really cute gingerbread houses, Joy!
I am looking forward to this. Did you say somewhere how many houses there will be?
Oh, sp pretty and worthy of a re-visit!
Could you maybe stitch a wee bird over top of the stain and then maybe add one here and there on the other blocks for cohesiveness? Or maybe applique one over top? If you really want to get the stain out maybe soak it in some Blue Dawn?
Thank you for doing this again. I have most of the embroidery on my Stay at Home blocks done but have not assembled them. They were fun. I look forward to this one too.
I am excited to see you repeat this block of the month project. I have been following you a short time so it is new to me and I think it is adorable. Can’t wait to start. I am wondering do you wash your DMC floss before stitching? Have you ever had it bleed onto the white background?
Thank you for the new sew along! And Thank you for showing the finished project! It’s sew cute.
I’m saving these! I’m always needing a baby quilt pattern and this one is so cute. Thanks!
Thank You for sharing this cute BOM, looks like fun!
How pretty, I love embroidery! Thanks so much for linking up at the 25 and Done Link Party 10! 25 entries in 25 hours!! Shared on Fb, Pn, and Tw.
