Today is Day 3 of the Wonderful World of Color Blog Hop hosted by the lovely Joan from Moosestash Quilting!
I have to confess I haven’t visited any of the other blogs yet due to all the hospital happenings this week, but I will. I just know there are heaps of beautiful, colorful projects being shared out there!
DD has the all clear from the surgeons to come home this afternoon, as long as her blood tests come back ok. Her gallbladder was very infected, so they want to make sure there is not infection before she comes home.
Once she’s home I’ll be hopping over to see the others in the Wonderful World of Color Blog Hop!
Initial Project Thoughts
When I first saw the theme of this month’s blog hop, my thoughts went straight to “BRIGHT”! My project is going to be bright and colorful!!
Funny how “bright and colorful” often go together in a sentence….
But as we got closer to the hop, I changed my mind… and came up with something totally different..
A colorful Autumn
While most of my blog friends this past month have been sharing beautiful photos of their wonderful world of Spring colors, here it in our wonderful world Down Under, it is Autumn!
As I was quilting Jean’s quilt, I was enjoying the autumn colors in it… and was thinking about how I’d photograph it before I gave it to her…
And as I was taking photos of the beautiful autumn colors around me, I decided this was the project I was going to share with you!
Wonderful World of Autumn Color!
My parents live in a lovely retirement village, and I decided to take photos of the quilt there…
Aren’t the colors in the trees just beautiful? And the quilt too of course!
Jean is a friend of my parents, and she is in her mid 90s…. Mum and Dad took the quilt to her on Sunday and she was so happy! I told her it could keep her legs warm over winter as she knits 🙂
Thank you for visiting my Wonderful World of Autumnal Color! Please visit the others who are posting today:

Thank you Joan for hosting this fun hop!
Glad your daughter is coming home today. Wishing her all the best for a speedy recovery.
Autumn is my most favourite season and I love that you’ve been inspired to share some beautiful autumn colours from your area. Oh how I wish we had some autumn colour around here – everyone seems to plant drought tolerant plants are here (which are quite boring in autumn).
Gorgeous quilt – lucky Jean!
First time I’ve been able to get onto your blog so have not heard all the news about DD. I’ll ring tomorrow. That quilt looks great & the photo is lovely. Take care and hugs.
Good to hear your DD is on the mend. Beautiful quilt and autumn colours.
It is indeed a beautiful quilt, and I can imagine the friend’s great pleasure on receiving it. As we are bumbling into spring here on the East coast of Canada, (it never arrives quickly or quietly), it seemed unusual for me to see the autumn colours in the pictures you shared. Isn’t the world interesting, and nature amazing. Thanks for sharing with us
What a lovely star quilt! It looks even prettier out in nature. How sweet of you to give it to your parent’s friend.
Fall colors are still very colorful, thanks for sharing this beauty in the natural outdoor fall colors.
Hope your DD can return to normal life soon.
Your star quilt is beautiful! I also love autumn colors, but we don’t see them often in Houston where we live. I hope that your daughter’s health continues to improve.
Very pretty quilt with a lovely background for the pictures.
Beautiful quilt. I love the fall colors and the outdoor photos really let it shine!
It certainly doesn’t need to be bright spring colors to ring my bell! Your Autumn quilt brings in all the colors that are near and dear to my heart. Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous and the backdrop with the fall trees is perfection. Every detail matches the colors on our world. Glad you hear that DD is doing better.
I’m glad your DD comes home today. That will be a relief for all concerned, I hope. I LOVE your quilt! Fall and its colors are my favorites. You made a lovely quilt and took some lovely pictures. I’m not ready for fall here yet since we are still working our way into spring, but your photos and quilt kind of make me look forward to it. 🙂
This is a beautiful quilt! It looks so comfy!
Your Autumnal quilt is so beautiful and so are the photos you took!
It’s always hard to think that Spring and Autumn (Fall!!!!) are switched between south and north. Your quilt is absolutely beautiful and definitely fits right in with the lovely tree colors. Hi to your Mum, too.
Hopefully DD is home by now! The quilt with the trees in the background looks lovely. We are still waiting for spring to arrive. Just when you think it is, we get another snowstorm.
What beautiful pictures – the colors are amazing. So glad things are better for DD.
Glad your daughter is better. Your quilt is beautiful, these are more my colors than the bright. I had gallbladder problems for 17 years, and kept coming up with negative tests until they invented the nuclear medicine HIDA scan and I flunked. When the Dr. took it out, he said it had been chronically infected for years. (I knew it wasn’t in my mind). Take care Joy!
Yeah to having a quilter from the other side of the world. Autumn is my favorite season and it is because of the colors. I absolutely love your quilt. The fabrics have a soft feel with the tiny prints, but your combination really makes a beautiful quilt. All the photos of it in the joy of nature are great! I am sure the “young” lady will enjoy having a loving quilt to keep her warm.
This quilt is absolutely gorgeous and your photos are outstanding…love it! What a sweet gift for your friend, Jean, and I’m sure she is treasuring it! I’m glad you’re daughter had the gallbladder taken care of and is on her way to feeling better. xo
Fall colors are my favorite!
Awesome Autumn colors, and quilt. It is lovely for sure. Glad your daughter is doing better.
There is nothing prettier than fall colors! You’ve captured them well in this quilt!
Love the quilt and how well it blends with your yard!
Beautiful quilt and SEW very different from the other participants in the Hop!! Thanks for sharing.
It’s always nice when the backdrop for our photos can coordinate with the quilt we’ve made. And there’s just something about making a project that has a special home that makes it even better to create.
It’s nice that you were able to fit a post in on top of all the things you’ve had going on recently – those other posts will be waiting for you when you’re ready :).
The autumn quilt is very very nice!!!
Thank you for sharing!
I live in Florida and we don’t get real fall colors in my area at all so your post was full of color for me. I’m originally from the north east and I do miss those colors. Your quilt is beautiful and I love your background for the shots. Thoughts and prayers are with your DD.
I love autumn and the colors of your quilt blend perfectly with the beautiful photo spot! And I do love star quilts!! I hope your daughter is home now and doing much better. Prayers for her.
It’s good to hear your daughter is (hopefully) home by now. Autumn colours really appeal to me too and they just shine in this quilt.
Hi Joy. I’m late reading blogs this week as well 😉. That quilt is beautiful as is the scenic backdrops. Glad to hear the hospital time might be coming to an end.
Your quilt is gorgeous and photographed against such a perfect backdrop too.
Very relieved to hear your daughter will be able to go home (and probably is, by the time I’m writing this).
Get well soon wishes for DD, and glad you and your gammill are bonding again
Beautiful quilt – beautiful background with the trees and the blue sky with the clouds. Rail fence and even the gravel on the ground. Nice photo. Thanks for sharing.
