I had the loveliest time at my sister’s house last week! We had lots of laughs, fun and also got to relax….
I was going to blog a bit last week, but in the end I just relaxed and spent time with family…
We ate out a couple of times… had some yummy seafood…
We played some sjoelen, a Dutch game:
My parents brought this sjoelbak (sjoel board) out from Holland…. it then went to Arabia with us, back to Oz and then from Melbourne up to Cairns! A well traveled board for sure!
In case you didn’t know, my parents are Dutch and immigrated to Australia in the late 60s…. Do I have any Dutch followers?
On Thursday night we had a special dinner out celebrating mum’s 80th birthday from last year, and dad’s from last week! My creative sister made this sign for them and it was at the restaurant waiting for us:
The restaurant was a nice fancy one called Ochre. It’s on the wharf… and the food was amazing! I had the Chicken breast – prosciutto wrapped, pocketed with bocconcini – smoked tomato and avocado and it was sooo tender!
If you are ever in Cairns and want a special place to eat out, then I highly recommend it!
I also did some crochet….
but more on that another day 🙂
Monday Menu Plan:
Last week was wonderful! I didn’t have to cook all week!!! The only thing I did was make myself cups of tea… and slice a few onions… other than that I had a real holiday! My DBIL even made me Eggs Benedict…..
….. which I ate outside on the veranda with the cool breeze….
He showed me how to make the Hollandaise sauce in the Thermie, and it was sooo easy! I’m definitely going to try it out myself this week!
Other than that, this is on the menu for the week:
Monday – Leftovers
Tuesday – Chicken Maryland Tray Bake
Wednesday – Leftovers
Thursday – Pork Roast
Friday – Beef Stew
Saturday – Leftovers
Sunday – Fish Casserole from Freezer
Well that is it for today, I’ll be back tomorrow with my To Do Tuesday!
Have you got a bit of This and That to share? Then join in!
You don’t need to have your post formatted the same way as I do, but you can if you want… Just link your blog post containing a recap of last week, or the weekend, or your plans for this week…. or any bit of this and that you want to share with us!
Looks like a lovely time indeed! Just what you needed!
Sounds like a wonderful time. So glad you had family time…so important!

Just wondering what time Friday night supper will be served? LOL
Sounds a great time was had by all and at least no cooking and just chilling out.
It does sound like you had a wonderful time Joy. Really lovely that the family could gather like that. We had a 200th birthday once – celebrating Mum and Dad’s 70th, my sister’s 40th and my niece’s 20th! Lots of fun!
A week without cooking much have been such a delight! Celebrating not one, but two, 80th’s is something special.
