Welcome to day 1 of the Queen of Gadgets Blog Hop hosted by the lovely Carol from Just Let Me Quilt!
As you can probably guess, this blog hop is all about gadgets we use in the sewing room… such a fun topic because I think we all have lots of them!
I had a few ideas of which gadget to share about, but in the end it came down to the one(s) I use the most at the moment… and that is my Accuqult Go! cutter(s)!
Yes, I have more than one…
My Accuquilt story started when I had a little shop in Arabia. Accuquilt US was an amazing company to work with, and so generous – they gave me two Go cutters… the regular one and the GO! baby:
(I think the GO! baby is now called the Go! me)
When I firsts saw the GO! baby I thought it was cute.. .but didn’t think it would be very useful. However, this year, I’ve actually been using it a lot!
I took it along to Judy’s on retreat, and am finding it so easy just to pull out and use with the smaller dies.
But for today’s project I used the regular GO! Cutter, because I used the Rag Die again!
Last month I use the Rag Die to make these for the kitchen:
And this month I made a rag rug for the kitchen to match:
I love how it turned out and it will be good to swap out with the other one I made many years ago. It won’t get a lot of wear and tear because it is just in front of the sink.
I use Lori Holt’s Cookbook fabric again, and I also sewed on some non-slip stuff to the back so it won’t slide around the kitchen…
The instructions to make a raggedy kitchen mat like this is on the Accuquilt Australia website, along with some hints and tips I included on making these!
I think I am going to make another one before I put this die away for a while… it’s always good to have spares!
Please head over to the others who are sharing their gadgets and projects today:
Thank you Carol for hosting this hop! I am so looking forward to seeing what everyone has made!
And since it is Monday, that was my This and That to share… Have you got a bit of This and That to share? Then join in and link your blog post below!

A great use of your go-cutter, Joy, making such a cute kitchen mat. And a good idea to put the non-slip on the back.
I’m a big fan of my Accuquilt! It’s made quilting so much easier, and even more fun!
Interesting mat & I do know you love your Go cutters & I enjoy seeing what you’ve made with them. Do the cats play with the mat? Take care & hugs.
The Accuquilt is a great gadget! I love the rug you made! Great idea!
I have never seen that die cutter. You did a great job with your rug and rags. Thanks for sharing something new to me. That certainly takes the drudgery of cutting those seams for the rag look!
You are so right, the Accuquilt is a great gadget for sure. So fun to make a rug and I bet it was so quick. Love your fabric choice!
I never saw a rag quilt made for a rug before, so that was new. I bet it went together super fast using the die cut.
I love that you have matching rug and potholders, next you should make a dish drying mat to match!
What a fast and fun way to make a kitchen rug. How fun would it be to make them in different holiday theme fabrics. Great idea to use that shelf liner to keep them from slipping. I LOVE it!
Great project and use of a cool gadget! I have a Go! Baby and a Crafter’s Edge Crossover II. Would love to get the Go! Big someday… Thanks for sharing that project–I wouldn’t have thought of making a rug like that. Clever!
This is my first sighting of a “rag rug” handmade with fun, themed fabrics! Way more fun than those that can be purchased readymade and not nearly so fun looking. I think a lot more of these are going to be popping up in kitchens everywhere!
Your rag projects are awesome! I just love the look of them and they’re so useful.
Very nice! I like to have a rug by the sink too. Your gadgets is a time saver!
I have that Accuquilt die and only used it once, but I need to bring it out again. I love the idea of using them for kitchen projects! Thank you for sharing this cool gadget, Joy!
A die cutter would definitely be a handy gadget! Cute little rug!
thank you for sharing your rug and towels and hot pads. so fun and pretty
Great use of the Accuquilt, one of my favorite gadgets, and great rug!
great use of this gadget. The floor mat is a wonderful idea and that you have an entire matching kitchen set is such a gift worthy idea.
Ah yes, AccuQuilt cutter and dies are some of my favorite gadgets too! I love your rug! Sew cute!
I love my accuquit cutter too! It’s such a useful gadget. Your rug turned out lovely!
What fun, Joy! The little rug is so cute, and I could see making hot pot coasters out of them, too.
I don’t have any go cutters, but it’s fun to learn what others make with them. your rag rug is sweet. I think the idea would be perfect for a child’s bedroom.as well.
What a fun idea! I love that you put the no slip stuff on the back. I may have to make myself a rug. 🙂
Cute. Yeah I picked that as my gadget too wait and see. Neat you had a store in Arabia!
What a great rag quilt! I love the fabric you chose for your kitchen rug. I’ve never used an AccuQuilt cutter but it looks like I might need to give it a try.
I don’t make sane quilts but I can sure see the possibilities for an AccuQuilt if I did.
Oh those cutter gadgets look so fun. Maybe one day I’ll get one, but for now…I just cut and bleed the old fashioned way!!
I really like the kitchen rag rug–very nice addition!
Great job, love your rug.
Love your rag rug and what a great idea putting that non-slip mat on the back. I think I need to make one too.
I so glad that you use your cutter(s) a lot. That rug is adorable and perfect. I can just imagine one to use as a bathmat made out of flannel. Excellent.
I do not own or have tried an AccuQuilt Cutter before. I am very tempted.
I forget about my Accuquilt but when I do remember and use it I can crank out blocks super quick. I like your rag rug.
