Welcome to Monday This and That… where we share a bit of this and a bit of that with each other!
In the Sewing Room
I’ve been doing some “work” sewing…
I am still working on a blog post that explains what the above is 🙂 Sorry, you’ll have to wait!
See the sewing machine in the background? That is Nina, my 440, back from the shop… Poor Nina, she had to have a major overhaul because apparently she had been dropped when we shipped her back from Arabia last time… cost me a pretty penny to get her fixed, but she’s as good as new now and well worth it!
Other Happenings
I’ve been ticking things off my to do list of things that need to be done before I leave next week (aaargghh!).
Take DD for blood tests – tick.
Pick up glasses – tick
Finish all blog post commitments – tick
Sort out meds for while we are away – tick
Still got more on my list, but getting there.
Last week my mother-in-law passed away. She was in the late stages of dementia, and not responsive at all in the end. We went to see her on Tuesday and she was just sleeping the whole time we were there… the next morning she passed peacefully in her sleep. Her funeral is next Monday, two days before I fly out.
This Week’s Plans
This week I am just going to keep ticking things off my looooooong list!
I NEED to work out what stitching project I’m taking with me on my trip… I also wanted to sew up some bowl cozies to take as gifts. So I might get a bit of fun time in the sewing room.
I’ll need to be fairly organized before we go to the funeral (we’ll head up on the Sunday and be back on the Tuesday) so that I am ready to fly out on the Wednesday. So if I am not around much online, you will know why…. it’s going to be a busy week!
I do apologize that I am taking longer to reply to comments, and also my blog visiting is almost non existent at the moment… Hopefully I’ll be able to get back on track again soon…
In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. Hugs. With a trip coming up so soon you have alot on your plate! Take care of yourself.
Sorry for the loss of your mil but as is so often true with dementia, she has been gone for a long while already. Pack yarn-that covers it all!!! lol
I, too, am sorry that you lost your mil.
I’m eager to see what the teaser at the beginner of the post is going to be and hope your trip is a very fun time.
Sorry to hear about your mother in law. Safe travels on your tips.
I’m so sorry to hear about your mother in law. My sympathy to you and your family.
Sounds like you’re making good inroads on your to do list before your trip – try to take some time to just breathe though, otherwise you’ll be too frazzled to enjoy the trip.
Sorry to hear about your Mum- in- law. I can see you’ll be uber busy before you leave. I’ll be in touch before you go. Take care and hugs.
Sorry for your loss Joy, all the best for your to do list, good you’ve got more “work” done
My sympathies to you and your family. I’m sure you’ll get all the important things on your list done – and hopefully you’ll fit in the sewing ‘tasks’ etc too! Safe travels!
My condolences to your and your husband. It is hard to lose family members, no matter what. You sound very busy right now, and you needn’t respond to my comment. I just wanted you to know I was reading and thinking about you and progressing slowly. =)
I’m so sorry to hear of your mother-in-law’s passing, Joy. Dementia is such a tough diagnosis. Sending prayers for your hubby and all your family.
Joy, I’m so sorry about your mother-in-law passing. My husband’s mother also had dementia, and her passing was also peaceful. if there is a blessing in that disease, perhaps it is peaceful passing. Good luck with your list and hope you have safe travels.
I am so sorry to hear about your MIL. My father’s worst fear is that he would be dependent on us children to take care of him and he ended up with dementia. It was a really hard to watch him go through that. My thoughts are with you and your family. Have a safe trip. .
