We went on two road trips while I was in Germany… be warned, this is going to be a photo heavy post 🙂
We really had wonderful weather the whole time I was there, and I did complain a bit when we went on our road trips because the sun got in the way of some of my photos…haha! But they were lovely autumn days..
Our first road trip was to a restaurant/hotel overlooking vineyards called Vogelsburg.
Another painted pallet welcomed us:
I”m not sure of the history of the actual building, whether it used to be a vineyard itself, or if it belonged to the church (there were a few statues with religious quotes), but we went there for the view and lunch….
There were lots of spots to sit outside,
but there was quite a cold wind, so we chose to sit inside…
I love how they decorated inside with dried vines like in the photo above!
Each of the tables were next to a window that was also decorated with an autumn feel…
The tables all had one of these with the table number on them:
and a tealight on top:
I think they were so cute, I am going to make some when I get home!! I think they would look perfect on the back porch…
While most people probably drink wine when they are visiting Vogelsburg, I am not a drinker.. so I ordered water… which comes in bottles in Germany and you need to make sure you ask for “still” water, otherwise you get fizzy…
I ordered a bit more of a pub style meal of pork schnitzel..
It was huge and I took half home 🙂
My uncle and his wife had something a bit more fancy… some sort of fish…
Looking out the windows we could see rows and rows of vines… when we left we had a walk around and I took some photos as best I could against the sun…
I just love seeing the cute German villages in the valleys…
After we had lunch and walked around, we went to the nearby town… but I think there are enough photos in this post, so I think I’ll put that part of our trip in another post..
Till tomorrow!
Those are awesome pictures!! It is lovely to see green although our snow is melting here.
I hope you realize what a thrill is that you get to travel so much! Since I will probably never get to Germany, thank you for sharing beautiful pictures!
Lovely to travel with you to places I’ve never been Joy, thankyou
Thank you for sharing your photos – they are so interesting. Looks like such a pretty area. How funny on the “still” water! If you do make those candles, would you post a tutorial – I love them!
Very beautiful. I especially love the hanging vine decor and the vineyard view. You’d almost have to be a mountain goat to work those vines! 🙂 Thanks for taking us along on your trip.
Beautiful scenery! Eating in a place that overlooks vineyards must have been a real treat and the decor in the restaurant was very fitting to the season. I love that candleholder idea too!
Thanks for showing me a part of the world I’ll never see for myself. =)
