After we had lunch at Vogelsburg we headed off to the nearby town called Volkach… all German towns are so cute, and this was no different…
The towns we visited seemed to all have gates like these to go through to the main town area:
….which leads to a town square…
The buildings are so old, and pretty – with decorations and flowers in the window boxes.
Being such a beautiful day there were lots of spots to sit outside and drink coffee….
And the tables all had lovely Autumn flower arrangements on them…
In the shops there were Autumn decorations for sale….
But also lots of gorgeous Christmas decorations!
I just loved all the bright and colorful geraniums everywhere you look…
And then there were the bakeries….
We bought a few yummies there to take home 🙂
It was a beautiful day, and we headed home with some lovely memories!
Tomorrow I’ll be back with part 2 of our Mystery Autumn Stitchalong! Some of the ladies in our facebook group have already finished part 1:
And the sneak peak of mine:
See you tomorrow and thanks for coming along with me on my travels!
My mother’s maiden name was Vosburg-(have also seen it spelled Vosburgh and Vosburghe) so we are German–Believe my mom’s family came here with Wm Penn to settle PA–cause I also heard the words –Dutch Quakers alot–
enjoying your trip photos and adventures–
hugs, di
Such a cute, well-kept town square. Delightful! As for the very tempting stitchalong…I mustn’t start a new project; I mustn’t start a new project; I mustn’t start…
Lovely. Just on catch up. Enjoy the rest of your holiday and glad the weather looks fine. You’ll get a surprise when you get back, as it may still be cold & wet by the sound of it. Take care & hugs.
Loving your photos! Volcach is beautiful, and to stroll on those streets looks like a dream to me. And those breads – yum! I’m looking forward to seeing part 2 on the autumn SAL. I may pick up a few more flosses today.
That town is simply filled with colour…the buildings themselves, but also the decor which I enjoyed seeing. But then….then…..that bakery!! I would have gotten lost in there and I’m sure suffered from sensory overload at how wonderful it must have smelled.
Such a nice village. My folks were stationed near Frankfort in the early fifties, and things were still pretty torn up in the big towns which were bombed. However, they found the town, Altenbach, where my father’s family emigrated from in 1851, and it had that same look to it in the architecture, with the narrow streets, and always so clean.
Very pretty buildings with the flower boxes, and look so well kept. Love that they have such old buildings still. Can’t believe that you sat outside and drank coffee!!
