The second day trip we took in Germany was to another gorgeous town called Coburg…
Coburg is well know for being the birthplace of Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s husband, and sure enough, when we came out of the car park we were greeted with some Prince Albert grafitti:
We went through another gate into the city area:
and there we found a yarn shop…
I was so good and didn’t buy a thing! But they had a lovely selection of yarn and embroidery supplies…
There was another gorgeous town square, and it happened to be market day…
The large building in the background is the town hall, and is another beautiful old building with lots of decorations..
I tried to get some close ups, but I am short and the building is tall… so I’ve zoomed in a bit and you’ll get more of an idea 🙂
Back to the market in the square…..
There were lots of plant stalls…
I love the arrangements they were selling… this one I think I will have to try to recreate at home:
These were also pretty:
And these – so cute!
We had lunch at a little cafe on the square, and also had a look in some of the cute shops…
And then we headed off to see a castle…. but that will have to wait for another post because it is bedtime and this post is long enough 🙂
Tomorrow I’ll be posting the third part of our Mystery Autumn Stitchalong!
I loved Germany when we were there in 1984. We visited the small villages close to Holland as we were staying there. My hubby worked for a Dutch company here in the states and he had to go there on business, but I enjoyed Holland during the week and he and I did some sightseeing to Germany in the weekend. Loved both those countries. Looks like you are enjoying it too!
Such an incredible amount of detail on that building – beautiful! Love the thought of a market in the town square – wish they did that a little more here. (and…as a little side note…there’s a town called Cobourg about an hour from here).
Just beautiful to visit such a quaint town–history, beauty and life!
