Welcome to Week 3 of the Christmas Mystery Quiltalong – a quick, fun quiltalong where we’ll be making a table topper, just in time for Christmas!

Proposed Schedule for the Christmas Mystery Quiltalong
Week 1 – Wednesday 23rd November – Materials Needed and First Step
Week 2 – Wednesday 30th November – Second step
Week 3 – Today! -Third step
Week 4 – Wednesday 14th December – Final instructions!
Christmas Mystery Week 3
There is no cutting this week, just sewing!
We’re going to be using:
- the other 4 1/2″ squares from week 1
- the four patches from week 1, and
- the hour glass blocks from week 2
Christmas Mystery Week 3 Sewing
Take four hour glass blocks, two four patches, two 4 1/2″ squares of background fabric and one 4 1/2″ square of fabric A
Arrange them as in the picture below:

Sew the blocks together in rows as per the picture below:
Press. (I pressed away from the hour glasses, but it doesn’t really matter)

Sew the rows together as per the picture below:
And now we have a block!
Make three more of these blocks for a total of four blocks.
