Welcome to Week 4 of the Christmas Mystery Quiltalong – a quick, fun quiltalong where we’ll be making a table topper, just in time for Christmas!
Sometimes life happens.. and it did this week, so I am splitting this post up into two, with Part 1 today and Part 2 tomorrow….
Proposed Schedule for the Christmas Mystery Quiltalong
Week 1 – Wednesday 23rd November – Materials Needed and First Step
Week 2 – Wednesday 30th November – Second step
Week 3 – Wednesday 7th December -Third step
Week 4 – Today! – Final instructions Part 1!
Christmas Mystery Week 4
After last week, we should all have four blocks made:

Today we’re going to be using:
- all four blocks from Week 3
- one of the 2 1/2″ fabric A squares from Week 1
- and we’ll be cutting a bit more, see below
Christmas Mystery Week 4 Cutting
Cut 4 (FOUR) 2 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangles of background fabric
Christmas Mystery Week 4 Sewing
Arrange the blocks like this:

Add the 2 1/2″ square of Fabric A, and the four 2 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangles of background fabric we just cut like this:

Sew together in rows as per the picture below:

Then sew the rows together as per the picture below:

And now it looks like this and is almost done:

While I was not able to join in on the actual cutting and sewing this time, I’ve enjoyed seeing the progress and what resulted. It looks great! I can see this would make a lovely largers bed quilt, too. Thanks for sharing.
