Like many others, I like to use the beginning of the year to set out goals…. things I hope to achieve through out the year, but I don’t beat myself up if it doesn’t go as planned.
Why set Goals?
I know some people don’t like setting goals or New Year’s resolutions, but I do…. for me it is like all the lists I make – a way of getting things out of my head and onto paper…
There’s plenty of quotes out there that go along the lines of “if you aim for nothing, you’ll hit it”…. and to me setting goals gives me some direction.
I do tend to get carried away with how many goals I set… and how many areas of my life I want to set goals for 🙂 I am sure I am the only one who does that… right?!
These are the areas I’m setting goals for this year:
- Faith
- Family
- Finances
- Health & Wellness
- In the Home
- In the Garden
- In The Sewing Room
- Blog and Biz
- Work
- Just For Fun
I’m not going to share all the goals, some are personal, but these are the ones I will share:
faith
- Write a verse a day
- Have QT at night before bed

- once a month date night with DH
- one meal a month with all of the kids, at home or out

I think that will keep me occupied don’t you?
Each month I will break the goals down into smaller tasks and make sure I review them, because that is the key… if it’s out of sight, it’s out of mind for me..
Are you a goal setter and have you set goals for 2023?
Oh my! That is a big list. All good things but I’m wondering how you will manage it. I am looking forward to watching you be successful with this.
I love your goals list, Joy!!! If you do half those things it will be amazing!!!!
I, too, need to set goals and make lists, or I flit off into lower priority projects, taking squirrel chasing runs to the new and shiny and rabbit trail flings into deeper explorations of topics that currently interest. And you’re right about “out of sight, out of mind” with said goals. Monthly and weekly reviews and breakdowns into manageable bites works best for me. I hope we’re able to carry on and carry out.
Thats an adventurous list Joy….. have fun working towards it. My lists are more reminders than goals but perhaps they are a little of each…

What a list! You have got a lot to go on with this year. Good luck with your goals.
I never thought to set goals for this year until I read your blog. Although I did set one goal and that was to finish a counted-cross stitch that I started in 1999 for my son when he was 20 and attending Gettysburg College. He is a civil war buff and this cross stitch was of a Union and confederate soldiers with their respective flags. Anyway he asks me all the time if I’m working on it! It’s like a joke between us now. So, I got it out and I have until his birthday the end of March to get it done! I’m determined to get it done.
I need to perhaps set a few more goals for myself. Hummmm! What shall they be. You did a great job of setting your goals! I wish you success on all of them.
I like saying your would break down your goals into smaller steps….that makes it doable to my mind!
Happy 2023 Joy. Breaking down your goals in such a way makes them, hopefully, more achievable! Best of luck – and have fun – meeting your goals.
I’m afraid I don’t tend to write down any goals because I know I’m bound to disappoint myself. I have a loose idea in my head of some of the things I want to do but I seem to manage to change my mind a dozen times before I actually act on them.
I’ve always been a goal setter, but I’m not worrying too much about it still this year. I need one more year of improvement, and I feel confident it is 2023’s year to shine. =)
