All work and no play makes the Days Filled Joy Blog very dull….and makes Joy a bit grumpity…
Hello! I’m still here!! Just in case you were wondering… 🙂
Yes, I’ve been working.. .day and night actually… which doesn’t leave much time for blogging.
I picked up some extra “one off” shifts that turned out to not be “one off”… but I will be smiling when my pay check comes in!
My work has been going really well. I am enjoying caring for my clients and spending time with them. I get along with both of them, so that is great.
And then in the evenings I have been sewing… for work…
Since the beginning of last year I have been helping a friend sew inserts for the heat packs she sells.
Her business is called Monarch Giftware, and she sells online, at markets and in pop-up shops.
She sold out of all her stock last year at Christmas, and then we had January off… but since then we have been sewing to get her stock back up again. Markets are starting this weekend, so it’s been all hands on deck.
I’ve been sewing the inserts for the Neck Shoulder Packs, which are super popular. All the inserts are made of calico, so I have calico dust everywhere throughout my studio 🙂
Sarah cuts them out:
I sew them together, cut the middle bit out…
Then I turn them inside out and iron them….
After that it’s back to the sewing machine where I stitch channels for the lupins to go in…
Sarah fills them with lupins and sews them shut…
It’s quite a process!
So after my day job of looking after some lovely people, I go out to the studio and sew inserts….
No fun sewing recently sadly… but I am hoping to get my weekly quota of inserts done earlier so that I have some time on the weekend to do a bit of fun sewing…
I hope you are all well and hope that I’ll have some fun sewing to show you soon!
Thought you’d been quiet on the blog, but also knew that you were getting the second client, so realised that you’d be busy. The heat bags look sort of complicated after the easier square or rectangular ones. Talk soon, take care and hugs.
I figured work has been keeping you busy and out of the sewing room–this assembly line stuff is pretty impressive!
Sometimes blogging and sewing interesting stuff has to take a back seat to the other things that happen in life. All about priorities!?
No wonder it’s been so quiet over here! It sounds like you are busy every minute. Money is nice, no argument there. I hope a little sewing time for you sneaks in soon.
I’m wondering with all those hours of working, if you’ll need to use one of those heat packs.
My goodness, you are one busy lady. Hopefully you can carve out a minute or two for yourself soon!
Assembly line is the only way to make many of the same items but I imagine you’re getting pretty bored with them. Hopefully you can find time to make something fun for yourself soon.
