a bit of This and That
Last Week’s This and That
Last week was a lovely one…
DD said she wanted to go away for a few days, and did I want to go with her… I said yes, as long as I could bring my sewing machine!
So we went away for a long weekend and stayed in a self contained unit…. it wasn’t far away so I was still able to go to work on Friday, and the rest of the time I sewed inserts for Sarah…
It was great to be able to just sew and not get distracted by housework and other things… I got a big bag full done:
and also had a relax in between, watching some Midsomer Murders 🙂
On Friday after work, I went to our main street where council was pulling out the “old” plants in the garden beds, to get ready for new ones… They pull them out and then come back with a truck to take them away. But they also don’t mind if locals take some of the “old” plants… I went home with a heap:
These geraniums were quite wilted, but they are hardy plants and will come good with some tlc:
I will be taking cuttings from them as well, and planting them around our property – free plants, yay!
We’ve had a few lovely spring… er… autumn days… and I took one of my clients out for a cuppa at a local nursery:
I didn’t buy any plants, but will revisit it one day – they had a huge variety.
I did go to Bunnings and get some herbs and lettuce… I wanted to revamp this wheelbarrow:
It needed it!
It looks better now…
While I was pottering in the garden my new chookies kept me company…
I also planted this out…
I’ve got it on the edge of the veranda, under cover, because I don’t want the frost to get my basil…
Hopefully it will all grow well!
This Week’s This and That
I have a nice quiet week ahead of me… just doing my regular work, and hoping to get some fun sewing in. Wouldn’t that be amazing!!
Have you got a bit of This and That to share? Then join in!
You don’t need to have your post formatted the same way as I do, but you can if you want… Just link your blog post containing a recap of last week, or the weekend, or your plans for this week…. or any bit of this and that you want to share with us!

Wow! It looks like you had a very productive and relaxing weekend. Thanks for sharing.
It’s so nice to get some time away and be able to concentrate on a specific project. Good score on those free geraniums, they certainly are hardy plants. Happy stitching!
I’m a little bit envious of your gardening activity. We’re getting snow again today after a week of very warm weather. Sigh! Patience required.
What a nice break for you and daughter! The bag of inserts will be appreciated, too.
The gardening bug stays strong even in the Fall!
Thanks for hosting. You are such a busy girl. I love Midsomer Murders! Wish I was able to do some gardening. Enjoy it while you can. A trip about now does sound nice. I’d take crocheting projects. Easier for me to carry.
Sounds like a wonderful time away – and productive too. Good haul of free plants, a case of being in the right place at the right time. The council would be smart if they charged a nominal fee (perhaps going to charity) rather than hauling them away.
What a wonderful week you had Joy. Great score on the free plants and a bag of sewn goodies. 😉
You are reminding me that I need to do some work in my back garden and take out the old plants and put in the winter veg.
I love your gardening. I am content watching my son put in flowers he buys me, or plant in the vegetables. We aren’t growing so many of those this year. I can’t eat most of them, and don’t have time to worry about that. My son is planting 3 peppers and 1 strawberry – he’ll find out that’s not enough strawberries, but it might be all they had left. The 4 are growing in their bought pots, because he hasn’t gotten them in the old bathtub out back yet.
How nice to have a few days with sewing, Midsomer Muders, and your daughter! It sounds lovely to me.
So glad you did some fun things to help you relax and get away. And gardening is the best at helping me – not only in exercise but in getting my mind on growing things! Have a great week, Joy!
