Welcome to Week 5 part 2 of our Christmas in July Mystery Quiltalong!
Yesterday was a huge day – I started work at 8.30 and finished at 6pm… I am not sure why I though on Monday that I would get time to do this blog post on a Tuesday – it’s always my looong work day… I came home from work with a splitting headache that threatened to turn into a migraine, so I went to bed instead of putting up this post… I hope you will forgive me!
This morning I took the day off because my head was still not quite right… I’m going to have an early night, but will just put this post up first.
So, all my blocks are sewn together and the top is done!
My initial idea was to just quilt and bind it as is, and I will probably still do that.
But I did have a play around with some border ideas.
Of course you can put some regular borders on, but I thought I’d play around with some pieced options.
First one was to keep the four patch idea going in the corners:
Then I thought it might be nice to keep the four patches going in the middle of the quilt too… which then led me to try out a 2 1/2″ border and squares to completed the pattern:
So there are a few options….
As with all my quiltalongs I usually leave the borders up to you – because I like to keep our QALs limited to four weeks… but you are always welcome to make the quilt bigger and use your imagination!
Thanks for joining in on this quiltalong, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! I would love to see a photo of your top – you can email me a pic, blog about it and let me know, or put a pic in our Facebook group!
So glad you managed to avoid a full-blown migraine. I like the added borders, particularly the one with the addition of the four-patches in the middle of the sides.
Such a very pretty quilt! Great job-I love a two block patterned quilt!
that’s a lovely quilt…. I do hope you are feeling better….

Hope you’re feeling better now, waving to you from not too far away from you, in the COLD country
