Our project for August’s One Gift A Month Challenge is a Pretty Pocket Pincushion!
Well, this month has totally thrown me off track because I missed the first Wednesday of the month!!!!
Usually I like to put out our One Gift a Month Project on the first Wednesday of the month, but I was distracted… so we are running late.. which of course is not unusual for me!
Not to worry, this project is worth waiting for I think – and won’t take long to make!
One Gift a Month Project List so far:
January ~ Scrappy Fabric Basket
March – Round Quilted Pot Holders
April – Drawstring Gift Bag With Divider
July – Christmas Pot Trivet or Hot Pad
Pretty Pocket Pincushion
I thought a pincushion might be a nice addition to our gift box this year, particularly to give to our sewing and quilting friends. So I did a bit of a search and found some cute pocket pincushions on the web!
If you do a search you’ll find a bunch of them, but I decided to choose this one of Jennifer’s (of Elefantz) tutorials.
I decided to go with my new chicken fabric that I still need to photograph properly for you all… time – I need more time!!!
I also used ricrac instead of lace…
I did not realize the pincushion would be so large! But it did turn out quite pretty and the pocket will fit in a pair of scissors and other odds and ends…

Such a great gift and I love the chickens!
What a cute little pincushion/scissor holder!!! Nice job even if you worried it was late!
What fun! I have made one pincushion this year. Wish I’d waited for this one. It looks cute, and easy enough to make. Thanks for sharing!
This is a really cute pincushion and I like the idea of a pocket to hold scissors, etc. In spite of my best intentions I haven’t kept up with your gift a month but hope to have some catch up sewing One Day!
