a bit of This and That
I had a much better week last week… and this week will be even better because I have the week off!
My kitchen “sewing room” was getting out of hand, so I decided to give it a big tidy up… I still wanted one sewing machine in there though, so I brought a little table in from the garage and put it near the window, and popped Nina on it:
I like that we can still get at the kitchen table if we want to, and I will try to keep my sewing stuff to the little table so that it doesn’t take over the whole kitchen! I also like my view… you can see through the window that my bulbs are starting to pop up in the pots…
What did I do with the rest of the “stuff”?
I moved it to my “office” which used to be DD’s room when she was a little girl… it is purple… walls and ceiling, lol!
I worked on the next step in the Evergreen Mystery Sewalong – I hadn’t touched it since the last update I gave you – so I was on Week 3. I cut it all out and labeled all the pieces…
And then I took the pieces back to the kitchen to sew…
And back to the purple room to iron, etc, etc… and then outside to the studio to hang on my design wall:
I certainly got my exercise in for the day!
When it warms up a little bit more I will have everything back out in the studio… but for now I am making the most of the lovely warm wood heater that is halfway between the kitchen and the purple room…
And I am very happy to have done a bit of fun sewing!
Have you got a bit of This and That to share? Then join in!
You don’t need to have your post formatted the same way as I do, but you can if you want… Just link your blog post containing a recap of last week, or the weekend, or your plans for this week…. or any bit of this and that you want to share with us!

I don’t think I got to my sewing room at all last week other than to show it to friends who dropped by. I sure hope this week will be more conducive to sewing. Fortunately, I got some handwork done in the evenings.
I really like your fabrics that you’re using in the Evergreen QAL. I did notice that the strip of step 2 with the popcorn is in upside down. Many have done this. Ask me how I know! Now I am overly aware of this area in the quilt. LOL
That looks like a fun place to sew! I think it’s actually helpful to sew outside of our sewing rooms once in awhile, just to break the monotony. When fall kicks in here, I might just need to set up a station in our sewing room which has lots of windows like your space there. :o)
Glad you came up with a solution that works – keeping warm, getting in some steps and getting some sewing done tick many boxes! Enjoy your week off!
It’s nice to involve the whole house in your sewing adventures! Very pretty view and a really nice quilt on the design wall!
I love that your daughter’s childhood room has a purple ceiling!!! Your Christmas tree quilt is looking fab! Plus you’re getting all kinds of steps in!!!
I would love to have that view outside my sewing room window. Instead all I can see is sky unless I stand up. Living on the third floor means not much of a view besides having a small window that’s high up.
What a lovely spot to sit and sew……
Love that purple room!! You also have a nice view from your sewing room! I really like your Christmas tree quilt! Thanks for sharing it with us.
