I realized that I have a few posts to catch up on, and one of them is my visit to Max and Dawn’s Patchworks Shop in Horsham, when I was on the way to see Judy…
I actually broke the journey up to Judy’s and spent a night at a motel in Horsham, which is about halfway… When I got there I thought I’d start my retreat a bit early and do a bit of cutting of Bee Vintage.. but when I went to grab my stuff, I found that I had forgotten to bring a ruler and cutting mat!
So I thought, well, that is a good excuse to see if there are any quilt shops in Horsham….. and after a quick google search I stumbled upon this cute little store!
Max and Dawn’s Patchworks Shop
Thank goodness for google.. and for google maps, because the shop was not in the main shopping area, but in their own home. Very reminiscent of my little shop in Arabia, and just the kind of place I would like to one day have again!
It was not very big, but there was quite a selection of goodies! Lots of fabric on bolts..
And heaps of samples of projects for inspiration…
I can’t remember where I saw this table runner pattern before, but it is pretty cool:
There was also a variety of notions and other odds and ends…
Patchwork, Sewing Machines, and… Watches?
As well as fabric and notions, they also sell sewing machines… and watches! And they repair both as well! Very interesting combination!

Other than all the goodies I’ve been showing you, a highlight of the shop was on the other side of this door:
I seriously thought Loki had somehow followed me!!!
Oh, and I had to take a photo of this shelf:
So, now you are probably wondering what I could not resist in this delightful little Patchwork shop?
Well, first off I have to say that both Max and Dawn were absolutely lovely! When Dawn heard that a fellow quilter was at a motel without a cutting mat and ruler, she kindly offered to lend me some of hers instead of selling me some!!
I thought that was really sweet of her, but in the end I didn’t take her up on the offer because one can always use an extra ruler and cutting mat.. so I did buy a small Fiskar’s ruler than I didn’t already own, and a small cutting mat, also one that I didn’t already own. I will use them somewhere in my many sewing areas!
And then just for fun, I bought a pretty strip set… which I will show you in another post with the rest of my shopping on my fun holiday trip to see Judy!
So, if you are ever in Horsham, do take some time to drop by Max and Dawn’s shop… they don’t have a website that I can find, but they are on Facebook and Google 🙂
What a great shop! Glad you could find it!
Finally hope this comment will take. Still having trouble on my old laptop with opening some blogs. . The shop looks great & didn’t realise Horsham had one. Talk soon, take care & hugs.
What a sweet shop and great find!!! They really pack a lot of fun quilt gems in!!! I like the Australian animals row I see hanging in the first photo!!!
Looks like a wonderful shop! I love those big flowers they have made up…I can ‘see’ one done as a sunflower (but that could be just because I have them on my mind after buying a bunch today). Would like to find that pattern so will have to do some searching here.
What a gem of a find – lots of treasures in there – and it would have been a good way to start your retreat!
