Summer Mystery Stitchalong Sunflower
I am hoping you are not going to hate me forever… because I decided to add a sunflower… only because there are a lot of seeds in sunflowers…. 🙂
In case you don’t know how to do French or Colonial knots, by the time you’re finished with the sunflower you will be an expert!! (or you’ll hate me forever… one of the two!)
I would suggest you try Colonial knots – I find them easier than French knots.
Here is a good video on youtube that shows you how to make a Colonial knot:
This week I’ll be using these threads:
DMC 743 for the sunflower petals
and
DMC 310 for the seeds (a colonial or french knot)
“HOW TO” FOR THE Fifth STEP IN THE STITCHALONG
Download the pattern below and print it out. Using a light box or window, trace and add the sunflower to your stitchery….. and then start stitching!
Thanks so much for joining me on all of the seasons stitchalongs!
Happy Stitching!

I do love these stitchery series, Joy. Thank you for them! (I used a variegated thread for the French knots in the centre of the flower once and it looked gorgeous!)
Thank you – hopefully once the holidays are over, I’ll be able to stitch this! If you haven’t mentioned it before, what kind of fabric di you use for this? Is there a backing of some kind? I’m going to make it into a seasonal hanging for our RV. Blessings, Donna
Just beautiful! I love the texture it gives the flower!
Sunflower – of course! So perfect for summer (and fall).
