I’m excited to be participating in the Chookshed Stitchers 2024 Challenge, hosted by the lovely Deana from Dreamworthy Quilts!
I may or may not be a little late in posting my list… and in starting, but better late than never…… maybe???!!!
What is the Chookshed Stitchers 2024 (Sewing) Challenge?
It’s a challenge for a bunch of us bloggers to work on a sewing related project each month this year – well, 10 months I guess because we are making a list of 10 things.
Each month Deana will chose a number, and we will work on that project… and then share our progress.
January’s number was #6.. and since it is the end of the month already and I am only just getting this post up, I’ve decided to cheat a little and make my #6 the goal that I have actually been working on this month – organizing my sewing spaces!
Don’t worry, I’ll be good and follow the list properly for the rest of the year!
My Chookshed Stitchers 2024 (Sewing) Challenge List
- Heartfelt BOM – work on blocks
- Chicken Salad Sewalong – applique blocks
- Kitchen Sewalong – work on blocks
- Chookie’s Churn Dash – put blocks together
- Barn Dance – work on blocks
- Organize Studio and Inside Sewing area
- Ribbon Border Quilt – quilt
- Christmas In July Mystery Quilt – quilt

- Beautiful Day BOM – work on blocks
Let’s look a bit closer at each of these….
#1 ~ Heartfelt BOM
Here is where I am up to with this BOM:
#2 ~ Chicken Salad Sewalong
i need to do the machine applique on each of these blocks:
#3 ~ Kitchen Sewalong
Only four more blocks to go on this one… if I finish the blocks in the month we’re working on #3, and I still have time, then I will start putting them together…
#4 ~ Chookie’s Churn Dash
Got all the blocks done, just need to put it all together….
#5 ~ Barn Dance
A fair bit more to do on this one… it was rather ambitious but it will be gorgeous!
#6 ~ Organize Studio and Inside Sewing Area
I particularly wanted to get Emmie G clear and ready to use this year… because most of last year she looked like this:
I will do another post on my progress this month…
#7 ~ Ribbon Border Quilt
All pieced and ready to quilt!
#8 ~ Christmas in July Mystery Quilt
Also all pieced and ready to quilt!
#9 ~ Evergreen Mystery QAL – finish
This one came to an abrupt halt because I need to unpick!!!
#10 ~ Beautiful Day BOM
This one is also nearly done – just four blocks to go…

Thank you Deana for hosting this challenge – just making my list has motivated me and I am looking forward to having a bit of guidance on what to work on each month… that is other than the, ahem, one or two, ahem, other things I will probably start!!
Are you joining in on the Chookshed Stitchers 2024 Challenge, or have you made your own list of projects you want to work on this year? Let us know in the comments!
Your projects look SO organized on those cute pages in that sweet notebook!
I love your project folders, you are going to be very busy…. good luck
Joy, your planner is ADORABLE! I love it so much! I bet it just makes you want to sew on your goals because it is so cute!
I welcome you to the group and look forward to following along in your journey.
I am dubbing you a “master of color and print combinations”. Your quilts listed here are gorgeous because of your skills in putting fabrics together.
Good luck!
Oh my gosh, you’re so organised! Love it!
Love this challenge! I have done a few of these and rid myself of all but the really onerous projects – mostly hand piecing/applique/epp that I have lost a little bit of interest in. I am so intrigued by your pages…do you do one for each quilt? I rather love that idea.
Looks like this will be a fun challenge and you will be working on some great projects. I won’t be joining in because I don’t have any UFO’s (I know, what’s wrong with me?!!) and just carry one landscape project on to a new one. I’ll enjoy watching your progress though!
Lovely planner and great goals to finish those projects!!!
