A bit of this and that!
Time for Monday This and That to start up again… I miss listing my odds and ends and seeing yours! I’m going to change the headings up a bit this year….
In the Hoop
I need to get back into the stitching habit.. I have one designed for next months’ blog hop, so I would like to get that on the go this week…
Last week while we were camping I did trace and stitch the last block for my Teacup Critters BOM! I chose the poodley puppy dog:
Now to add it to the rest of the quilt:
I’m getting there sloooooooowwwwwlllllyyyy!!!!
In case you were wondering about borders… I wasn’t planning on adding any but I will still think about that….
In the Sewing Room
Well, in my last post I mentioned that I have been working on organizing my studio and inside sewing area.
With the very hot weather I have found the same problem I had in the winter with the very cold weather – I don’t want to be cooling/heating the studio as well as the house… so I managed to get a second hand sewing cabinet and have put that in the kitchen/dining area. It’s nice and close to the aircon and I have a lovely view of my pots outside! Win, win!
Oh, I made my first ever card trick block the other day!! Crazy that it has taken me this long to make one, but it was really easy using my 12″ Qube set…
In the Yarn Basket
A friend of mine is making crochet blankets for cats at our local shelter. The idea is that when they get adopted they can take the blanket with them for something familiar. I thought it was a great idea, so I’ve started making some too….
I’ll do another post on that soon…
In the Kitchen
I did some meal prep last week – made some low carb lasagnas for the freezer. Instead of pasta I sliced up some zucchini really thin… I will see what it tastes like (I made it up as I went along!), but I think it will be good!
In The Home
I’m organizing my hallway pantry… we got some bookshelves (with doors) from Ikea earlier this month and DH put them up for me in the hallway. They are going to hold my store bought canned goods, and my home canned goodies.
Before it was all in this deep linen cupboard:
And I lost things in the back… surprise, surprise…
I’ll do a proper post on the bookshelves and my progress as well…soooooon….!
In the Garden
I never managed to get my veggie garden done this year, still waiting on funds to get the backyard leveled out… but I did put some veggies in pots. I’ve been getting tomatoes:
And that is about it!
I had cucumbers and zucchinis planted but they got eaten by something……
In the Planner
I started planning out February… I have a bit more planning to do. I’ll have to show you my planner one day, it is rather complicated, with lots of sections – haha! For now I have planned out the coming week and we will see how that turns out.
This Week’s this and That & To Do List
This week will be warm again….. so I don’t plan on doing much outside. Hopefully I can work in the following areas and get a little bit done while trying to stay cool!

Last year I found that the weekly list and link up to To Do Tuesday was good, but sometimes I forgot what was on my list because it was on the computer.
This year I want to write it down as well, and keep it in my planner, so I made a special sheet for it. Here it is for this week (please excuse my handwriting!):
I made it to fold over and fit into my planner:
And that is it for this week! If you’ve made it to the end you deserve a medal!! Thanks for visiting and let us know in the comments what is happening in your corner of the world!
Have you got a bit of This and That to share? Then join in!
You don’t need to have your post formatted the same way as I do, but you can if you want… otherwise just link to any blog post that has to do with any of the topics above and share it with us!

I enjoyed hearing about your list and activities this week. Thanks for the pics. I had a pantry in my first house like that. I think it was supposed to be a broom closet, but I needed it for groceries! LOL They are so deep that it is very easy to wind up with unused items and they go out of date. That was a good idea to get book cases with doors. Your zucchini lasagna will be great. I still need my paper calendar. I haven’t gone paperless in everything yet, but I am trying.
I love the card trick block but I have never made one either – isn’t that sad! You are inspiring me to try one this week. . .
What are the little rounds of crochet for in your top photo? They look like lovely little pastries!
What a lovely, light space you have for your sewing. Your tomatoes look so good to me.
Have a wonderful week Joy!
You’re making good progress on your list. We are lucky that we have a nice-sized storage room in our apartment and we were able to fit a strong metal shelving unit in there that acts as our pantry. It’s an ongoing struggle to try to keep Resident Chef from filling up the shelves with other ‘stuff’ that has nothing to do with food.
Thank you for the idea about making blankets for kitties at the shelter – I could do those with some of my leftover yarns. Now to call the shelter to see if they’ll accept such things (they’re pretty picky sometimes)
Nice progress on your projects-both sewing and home organization! Love the pic of your gardening–missed seeing this through the winter!
Your hand stitching is so beautiful. I wouldn’t dare take that close of a photo of mine. Maybe my stitches are too small, I don’t know. The quilt you are putting it in is also lovely.
Your posts truly are so lovely to look at – great photography, layout, EVERYTHING!
I have never made a card trick block either, but I really like it and need to put that on my list! Your kitchen space is really nice. Love the windows! Congrats on finishing stitching your teacup BOM! Almost a finish – YAY!! Thanks for joining in with us at Monday Musings! Have a great weekend!
Looks like you are making great progress! Your quilt top is so cute! Thanks for sharing!
Your card trick fabric choices are very pretty–cheery! I made one a few years ago and enjoyed it.
I would love to know how the low carb lasagnas turned out
