Just a bit of this and that!
Last Week’s This and That
More stress last week as you can see in the last post...
But I’ve got a bit of good news to start the week off….
After we rescued the dogs, they were so adorable that I joked to my friend – do you think their owner would notice if there was one less???!!! We both laughed, and then later she repeated my joke to the owner…
Guess what???
She was so thankful that we rescued her babies that she offered one to me!!
You see, they have been breeding them, but her husband is quite unwell and this incident has made her realize that she needs to downsize… so, long story short, this little girl had another trip in another strange car:
I’d like to introduce you to Sylvie! The new member of our family!!!
She is a purebred Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and absolutely gorgeous!
We’ve been shopping, to get her a leash, and a special seatbelt thing so that she will be safe in the car, and a bed, and… and… and…. 🙂 We haven’t had a dog in a long time!
The poor thing is still very traumatized… in the space of less than a week her owners had to evacuate without her, then she got “dognapped” to save her from the fire that was only meters away, sent to a strange kennel, and then now to a strange house…
She is very used to “her” bed now:
It’s right next to her new daddy’s chair so she can get pats…
She also likes to sit on her new mummy’s lap and snuggle…
on a quilt of course….!
She is such a cutie, and hopefully she will soon be settled and happy in her new home…
Oh, I might add, she likes to sleep in bed with us at night… ahem – I think DH is going through a late midlife crisis – growing up on a farm he’s sworn that dogs belong outside and certainly NOT on a bed!!! I think this little princess has stolen his heart because she is going to have her own spot on our bed from now on!!!
Fires Update
The fires are still burning out of control, and just this morning there was a warning for another fire started on the very road where the dogs live… we are so glad we got them out in time!
We are still getting warnings many times a day of new fires, and the air has been thick with smoke..
This coming Wednesday is going to be another terrible fire day with warnings like this:

I won’t be going to work for the next two days, just hunkering down and we will be prepared to leave if need be…. Let’s hope and pray it won’t be as bad as they think it will be….
This Week’s This and That
Well, like last week, I don’t have much planned. Since I am not working, I am hoping to get some sewing done on our 2024 BOM…
Other than that I will be playing with Sylvie, and praying for the fires to die down…..

I’m so sorry about the fires, they sound so scary! I hope they die out or at least the the winds moderate. Your dog is cute, sounds like she’s adjusting to the new surroundings.
Wow! That was a nice thank you gift! She is beautiful and I am sure her new daddy will help her transition to her new home very well. Thanks for sharing.
What a perfect thank you – Sylvie is beautiful and adorable. How old is she? I’m so happy for you! Keep us posted on her settling in, and yay that she sleeps with you guys. My Daddy believed the same about pets, so I was never allowed to bring my cat inside, although I did open my window screen a few times during thunderstorms to let him in, poor guy. 🙁 I’m praying for you and your country and hope the fires die down.
What kind of dog is she? She is a cutie! How are the cats reacting to the new addition?! I hope you stay safe!
Stay safe and ready Joy. Those fire alerts are scary and stressful. I love looking at our green spring grasses on the hills and mountains. But I know what kind of fire season that brings. Sylvie is beautiful. King Charles is my favorite dog. My Casper has the color markings of a Blenheim, but is an 18yr old cocker spaniel. We rescued him on a Halloween from Death Row Dogs rescue group. He’s the love of our lives.
bienvenue à Sylvie!que du bonheur!
Sylvie is so cute. Had to chuckle about dogs on beds. lol. Stay safe & i hope those fires dies out asap.
lovely new family member… already spoilt there…. the fires are horrific and so is the heat…
Hugz
OoOo lucky you, Sylvie is gorgeous. Thinking of everyone who has been affected by the bush fires.
awwww – Sylvie is adorable and I know she’s going to brighten your lives. Sounds like she’s already wormed her way into your hearts and now it’s going to just take a little time for her to get accustomed to her new space. Please give her special skritches from me!
Please stay safe – and prayers are heading your way for a quick end to the heat and the fires.
Oh, those fires sound awful. I am glad the dogs were rescued and glad Slyvie has a new home. She sounds like she is already making her mark in your hearts.
A lovely end to the rescue story, having Sylvie come and live with you. She’s adorable!
