Just a bit of this and that!
Last Week’s This and That
Well, there was excitement plus in my life last week!
To cut a long story short, I spent half the day last Tuesday at emergency with my Dad who had had a fall…
As usual, it was busy:
Thank goodness I had my yarn basket with me!!
Unfortunately, I didn’t have scissors… do you know how many pairs of embroidery scissors I own?????
A LOT!
Somehow I am down to only one that I can find, and it was clipped on this basket.. but obviously, I took it out to use for something else and there I was, crocheting the time away and trying to break the thread with my hands… a kind nurse took pity on me and gave me these:
I am going to make a special pocket in my basket to keep it (or another pair of scissors) there…..
Dad did all sorts of tests and thankfully everything was well – except that he tested positive for covid…. Since I work in the healthcare industry and I spent more than 4 hours with him, I was considered a close contact and was not allowed to return to work for the rest of the week…. forced holiday!
And what does one do with a forced holiday?
Go camping for a few days….
They were burning stubble in the paddocks all around us, so I think that is why the sun was that color…
Sylvie came with us of course… and when I made up the bed the first night she quickly went to what she thought was her spot:
Jolly good thing she is cute… it took a bit of convincing her to sleep at my feet and not on my pillow!!
Clean out the pantry….
This is before… I am hoping to finish this week and show you the after next week! Many of you thought it was fun to see what was in my fridge last week – I’m sure you’ll have fun with my pantry! There’s all sorts of stuff in there!!
Make some new planning pages…. and give them to you as well:
If you like these, just put your name and email in the form below and you will get sent straight to the download link:
And last but not least… Sewing!!
But it is all secret stuff so I can’t share any of it yet… sorry…
This Week’s This and That
Well, I am hoping there will be no surprises this week!! One thing I am really happy about is that Daylight Savings is over!
Yay!
I don’t like it at all… my body feels out of sorts the whole time, so I am pleased we are back into normal time and heading for winter!
All the blog posts I missed out on posting last week hopefully will get done this week….
I still need to print out my new planning pages…. and fill them in, but until then I have my list below:
In the Hoop
- finish stitching up the next flower block
In the Sewing Room
- finish the next blog hop project
- unpick the second row of the #9 Chookshed Challenge:
In the Yarn Basket
- finish another large granny square for a cat blanket
In the Kitchen
- finish organizing pantry
In the Home
- wash front veranda windows
In the Garden
- cut back basil
In the Planner
- get paper planner started again
Have you got a bit of This and That to share? Do you have a recipe to share? Some sewing you’ve been doing? An update on your garden? Just a bit of show and tell? Then join in!
You don’t need to have your post formatted the same way as I do, but you can if you want… otherwise just link to any blog post on any topic and share it with us!

Glad you didn’t get Covid but sorry your Dad was ill! The bit of vacation was good for you!
So sorry your Dad had a fall – hopefully he’s okay now. Too bad about the covid diagnosis though – just goes to prove that it’s certainly not over. DH and I still wear masks but we’re by far outnumbered. Better to be safe than sorry though.
Oh, my!!! What excitement!!! Good thing your Dad didn’t break anything. Sorry about the CVD. But great that you got a forced vacay!!! Love the photo of the sun!!!!
Hopefully your dad isn’t ill with covid but how nice you got to go camping then stay at home and organize. Happy stitching!
I’m glad your dad is okay and hopefully the bout of Covid isn’t (wasn’t) too awful for him. Yay for a forced holiday! Your little lady looks very comfy on the bed.
I’m sorry to hear about your Dad but glad that he was not seriously injured in his fall. How sweet of the nurse to give you those scissors! The forced holiday sounds like fun, but hope you don’t get Covid.
