Life finally seems to be slowing down a little bit for me, and I am loving it! So I thought I’d do a bit of an update post and catch you up on what’s been happening in my corner of the world…
We’ve just had our main birthday season – all the kids and my dad. So we have had some special family meals out and some at home… for DD we went out for a girl’s lunch with my mum as well… actually brunch… I had my favorite…
Talking about eggs… our chookies are laying well even though we are in the heart of winter. They have, however, decided that the back porch is a lot nicer than being out in the weather…
Not happy with all the droppings I now need to clean up!!!
I’ve been teaching one on one quilt classes which I have been enjoying sooo much! One of my students is doing a king-size log cabin quilt.. we are doing it the Eleanor Burns way:
I love this method of making log cabins – it’s so quick and easy! Here are half of the finished blocks:
Her son chose the fabrics, and it is going to be a beautiful quilt!
Guess what?!
I actually did some sewing! Yes! Fun sewing too! I made a quick and easy strip quilt for DH:
It is going to be his new summer quilt because his old one is falling apart… I am then going to be making one with the same fabrics, but a few more pink ones in it for me. His and Hers quilts!
The top is ready to iron and then load on to Emmie G. I am hoping to get to that this weekend….
Sylvie has well and truly settled in. She and Loki are starting to play, chasing each other around the house…. and even sharing the same comfy spot:
I’ve also been taking her to play with a friend’s dog, a Marema who is three times her size… Bella can be a bit rough, but they adore each other!
It’s been sooooooooooooo nice and cold here! Winter has really arrived in full force and I am enjoying every minute! I’ve also been playing Christmas music because it is July after all (ok, I started in June, but who’s counting?)
I’m hoping to have a little Christmas in July surprise for you later in the week, so stay tuned!
And that is a bit of what’s been going on here… I hope you are all well and hope to get back into my blogging routine again now!
Log cabin is one of my favourite designs so I understand why you’d be making it.
Enjoy your Christmas in July!
How neat that Loki and Sylvie play together! I had not heard of the Eleanor Burns method of log cabins – going to have a look at that. I like the chicken fabric on your husband’s quilt. Glad you had some sewing time!
Great that things have quietened down and you are able to get on with some of your own things…. Hugz
