Ok, where were we? Oh yes, my favorite sister (I only have one) and her hubbie drove down four hours from Cairns to help us for the weekend!
As you can see, they have a nice big car… and we filled it right up!
Kmart is an amazing place to shop for a new home! Their prices are great, and the quality is pretty good too..
DBIL spent the rest of the weekend putting everything together… Sapphy helped:
I tell you what, I don’t know how we would have done it without them coming to help!
I felt totally helpless, sitting on the couch with my right arm in a cast, just watching… My sister helped her hubby hold things in place, she tidied up, and kept everyone organized!
By the end of the weekend, the empty apartment looked like a home:
No more boxes for coffee tables!
It was a great weekend, and after that, we really only needed to do small trips out to get things.
Fun fact: DD and my sister have a very similar decorating style! It was fun to see them go through Kmart at look at things to pretty the place up – they both went to the same things!! I stayed out of it because according to DD I have no style, LOL!!
We did a bit of exploring – we found a good hairdresser nearby and got our hair cut, so that will be good for DD to go to regularly.
I also visited friends and when I walked into their lounge I saw this:
Oh my!!! I’ve seen these on tv, and in shopping malls.. but never in someone’s home! I can tell you I spent a few hours in it on both visits, haha! Soooo nice!! If I ever get some spare money… ahem.. that might go on my wish list!
We also went on an outing to “Otto’s” which I will tell you about in the next post!
So nice to see your DD’s new home get put together so nicely. That is quite a chair! I’m enjoying your travel posts. 🙂
The apartment looks lovely! Seeing that makes me wish we hadn’t painted ours the colour we did (it’s a warm-ish taupe which ‘goes with’ the carpet but is very uninspiring). If I had enough oomph I would repaint but then I think about moving everything and the urge passes.
Oh what a delightful and cheery looking home–you all did so well–glad you had a good time supervising!!!
hugs, di
the home looks lovely…. yes, I would love one of those massage chairs…
