I did say in the last post that we went to a place called “Otto’s”. My sister said we had to go there because it was really cool, and it was… I just realized now that I actually didn’t take a single photo of Otto’s!
Otto’s is a supermarket with lots of specialty food items. We enjoyed browsing through it and we also ordered some food for lunch – it was delicious! Next time I visit I will take photos!!
I did however take lots of photos at Renegade Gift Shop which was in the same complex…. the shop lady was very friendly and gave me permission to post photos here to share with you!
As soon as I walked in I was drawn to one of the cutest displays of crocheted items I have seen!
Just adorable don’t you think?!
These are all made by a local business called LE.E Crochet. I can’t believe the earings they make!!! Sooo tiny:
I tried to zoom in a bit but they went blurry… but they are so cute:
I have never tried micro crochet… should I???!!! In all my spare time…..!
One last picture of cuteness:
You can check them out on Instagram and their website!
Moving on through the shop there were more lovely handmade items like these assorted baby clothes and bibs:
More sewn items:
And some quilts!
The quilts looked quite thin, so they may not have had batting in them – which would be perfect for the climate up north…
There were also some pretty mug rugs:
And I love these:
I assume that is macrame – which might be making a bit of a comeback! I would be happy to have a pot plant in one of them hanging on my back porch!
There were also some talented artists – this one with Aussie animals:
And another display with typical tropical paintings of Queensland:
There was much more of course, and you can see a bit more about the shop on their website. I love the way they are supporting local makers. It’s a great place to buy gifts if you live in Townsville – and if you don’t, you can always check out their websites and buy online!
I actually walked out without buying a single thing… which is not like me.. but all my savings had already gone towards setting up DD’s house… but next time I visit I will be sure to support them with a bit of spending!
What do you think you would be tempted to buy if you visited?
I could probably spend a day at Otto’s! It does indeed look very cool. Love those tiny earrings at the gift shop! I’m enjoying your trip posts and photos, very much.
Oh my ,thank you for the walk through the shop .so many beautiful things.Love those earrings, but all those stuffed toys, and potted flowers.I would have to buy one of the potted flowers
That looks like an incredible shop! I love the earrings and I think it would be a tossup between a pair of those and one of the sweet little crocheted critters.
