With a blog title like that you might be thinking – hang on!! Did Joy sneak over to the US without telling us????
Joy went to the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza?
No, I didn’t.. sadly… I wish I had though! But my BFF Alice had herself a nice weekend away staying in Lancaster and going to the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extraveganza!!!
Since she is not blogging at the moment, I am putting these pictures up for her..
Who is Alice?
First… in case you are new to my blog, I’d like to tell you who Alice is.
Alice and I met in Arabia about, oh, maybe 18 years ago?????!!! We were both homeschooling our kiddies, and we learned how to quilt together. Since then we have lived in the same and different countries on and off, and have still kept in touch weekly, if not daily.
It’s an amazing friendship that I treasure… and I am so thankful that we are able to keep in touch via the internet.
Alice has a blog called Alice in Quilterland, but since she started working full time she hasn’t been able to keep up with it.
HOWEVER…. she is retiring at the end of this year (YAY) and that means we’ll be spending more time together virtually in our sewing rooms and we are going to get her blog up and running again!!! So excited!!
Alice in Amishland
That has a nice ring to it too… don’t you think?
I’ll let you in on our conversation the weekend she went to the show:

There was lots more chatter after this… do you know it is my lifelong dream to go to Amish country??? One day.. one day… in the meantime, I have to live vicariously through Alice… she said:
She did take lots of photos for me, and it was almost like I was there, but not quite… clearly if I ever do get to visit again, I will need to plan to be there for the quilt extravaganza…
I’m going to be sharing a LOT of photos with you this week… of course since the show was last month you may have already seen some of them, but I’m still going to post them…
I’ll finish this blog post with the first photo Alice took:
I really need to get my studio up and running again so that I can sew sew sew!!!
I’ll be back tomorrow with more quilt show photos
Lucky lady! Amish country is beautiful – grew up around there – well, for 5 years anyway. 😉
Praying you are better. Haven’t been able to keep up with you – poor signals (like you don’t know about that, right?) and hurricanes.
Blessings, Donna
What a sweet friendship, and it’s so nice that at least one of you is in Amish-land! 🙂
So nice to have a friendship endure through so many changes!!! The pics are inspiring!
I have two kids living in Lancaster. I would have loved to visit them and see the quilt show with such lovely quilts. Maybe next year.
I grew up near there and saw things like this very often. It is what inspired my love of quilts. I made one very similar to the first quilt, a long time ago, and hand quilted it. Used Kaffe shot cottons! It hangs in my sewing studio. I hope you get to go someday!
