I did really want to do this stitchalong in stages like I usually do, but as I said, it didn’t lend itself to doing that.
So let’s see how we go with this version of a stitchalong – this week we will be stitching two candles and some of the surrounding decoration!
I traced mine out and I am going to be starting with the bottom left candle being my “hope” candle…. and probably the short center candle….
Here are the colors I am using:
DMC 209 for the three purple candles
DMC 3833 for the pink candle
DMC 817 for the poinsettia flowers and berries
DMC 977 for the flames and French knots on poinsettias
DMC 435 for the candle wicks
DMC 561 and 562 for the greenery
I usually use two strands of thread.
I cut my background fabric to 14″.
I made a start yesterday…
I am feeling the purple might be a little bit light, but it does look better in real life…
Download the pattern below, print it out, and trace it onto your chosen fabric using a lightbox. Pick your colors and start stitching!
Happy Stitching!
Thanks for the advent pattern. I downloaded it, but didn’t see what size fabric square that I should use. This is the first time that I have actually signed up for one of your stitcheries, so maybe I am missing something that is already understood?
Hi Pamela! I replied to your comment via email and I have updated the description above to add the size of the background fabric I used! Thanks for pointing this out! xx
So nice to see you stitching again!!! Very pretty design, thanks!
Thanks for the pretty embroidery. Are you using 2 strans or 3 to stitch.
Thanks for asking! I replied to your comment via email and I have updated the description above to add that I usually use 2 strands! xx
This is such a pretty design – thank you! I can ‘see’ it with beads added here and there too.
So glad you are feeling like stitching again Joy, and thanks so much for the Advent embroidery. I like “marmic1954” idea of beads!
Glad to see you have got your stitching out….. and especially at this crazy time of year!
Hugz
What a fun design…maybe this will be my travel project!
I am so excited for the new SAL , Joy. I participate every year and enjoy each stitch. I downloaded the Advent stitch today and will be pulling fabric and threads. Thank you for your generosity and all that you do for the stitching community. Happy Stitching. Hugs.
