But wait, there’s more! This year we will have another BOM… but this one is especially for our lovely members!
Our members-only block of the month will be a series of Micro Mini Embroideries…. that can be turned into a small quilt, wall hanging, or used in any sewing project throughout the year.
I like that these designs are super quick and easy to stitch up. I have been taking them with me in the car and working on them in between shifts… I have decided that using spare pockets of time in my day is the best way to get some creativity into my busy schedule!
Like yesterday’s post, this is an introductory one about the BOM and how it will work this year.
What is a Micro Mini Embroidery?
Well, basically it is a tiny one!
I am sure you have heard of Micro Mini Quilts – they are miniature quilts that finish at 6″ or less… and are super cute!
I thought it would be fun to do the same with mini embroideries.
They will be quick and easy to stitch up, and fun to either make a micro mini quilt out of, or other little embroidery projects.
I can picture them being hung on the wall in mini embroidery hoops as well!
How Will the Micro Mini Embroidery Block of the Month Work?
How Many Blocks Will There Be?
Unlike other BOMs we have run, we will have 12 micro mini blocks!
How Big will the Blocks be?
Each of the small embroidery designs is 3″ square… I will be trimming them up to a 4″ block before I use them in a project.
When Will the Blocks Be Posted?
I am planning to post the blocks on the SECOND Wednesday of the month, the week after our Snowballs and Snowflakes BOM.
How many Months will this BOM Take?
This Bom will run until at least December 2025… However, as long as I can keep thinking up new embroidery patterns I may keep it going next year… let’s see!
Will we be Making a Quilt?
I’m not sure yet if I will be putting all the 12 blocks into a small quilt – because it will be small! If anything, it will be a wall hanging.
However, these mini blocks are so versatile, I am planning to post different projects throughout the year with ideas on how to use these mini embroideries.
I love making small gift items because they are so quick and easy to finish. Just adding a few borders will make one of these mini’s into a micro mini quilt. Adding a bit more fabric can turn them into a mug rug… etc, etc.
If I do decide to turn all 12 blocks into a wall hanging or mini quilt, I will provide instructions for that.
I can see that I will be stitching up more than one of each design… good thing they are so quick and easy to make!
Is this a Free or Paid for BOM?
The miniature embroidery patterns are not going to be free patterns – they are only for the members. The membership is $37 per year, and while there is incredible value in the membership already with all our old blocks of the month, standalone stitcheries, patterns, and printables, I want to keep adding value throughout the year.
The mini embroideries will be part of new content that will be uploaded regularly.
How Do We Get the New Patterns Each Month?
On the second Wednesday of each month, I will do a blog post with the new block and include a link to the Membership pages. Like all of our other patterns it will be a digital pattern that can be downloaded and printed out.
Do I need to Keep up Each Month?
No, you don’t need to worry if you can’t stitch along every month with us, you can go at your own pace. Since the blocks will be in the membership forever you will have plenty of time to download them.
What Skill Level is Needed for this BOM?
The BOM is suitable for all skill levels, but once again I try to keep things simple, so it will be a great way for beginners to start their embroidery and quilting journey!
I don’t use a lot of different stitches, and the ones I usually use are the easy ones – running stitch, back stitch, lazy daisy, French, or Colonial knots… but if they are too easy for you, please feel free to use any embroidery stitch you like. I love to see variations of my designs by people who are better at embroidery than I am!!
Materials Needed
- your choice of background fabric
- your choice of thread ( I use DMC) AND I use two strands
- lightbox to trace the embroidery onto the fabric (If you don’t have a lightbox you can also place the printout and fabric up against a window and trace it that way)
Embroidery Requirements
- embroidery needle
- mini hoops (optional)
- iron on stabilizer (optional)

I’d like to say thank you to those who have already signed up for the membership! Your support means I can continue to pay for all my hosting and blog running costs and provide new designs!

Block 1 is ready in the membership area for you to download!!
It’s a cute winter mitten… for those who are in the middle of winter now… and for those of us who are in the middle of a heatwave wishing we were in the middle of winter!!!!!
