Last month I told you I was sewing along with the Fat Quarter Shop this year doing the Vintage Christmas Quilt Along! We are making Lori Holt’s Vintage Christmas quilt using her new line of fabric – the Home Town Holiday Fabrics.
I finished my blocks in time to post them on Instagram earlier this month, but haven’t shared them here…
I tell you what, I did not realize we were making the 6″ finished blocks…. I don’t think I have worked with such small pieces of fabric before!!!!
There was a fair bit of unpicking going on……
The first block was the manger one:
LOTS of unpicking on that one, not to mention having to recut some fabric……
Next up was the Candy Swirl block:
This one was quick and easy – no unpicking needed! Phew!!
The candy canes were next:
I don’t think I unpicked anything on this one…
And last but not least, the candles…
Some unpicking on this one, and don’t look too close, please!!! There are a few wonky bits in there!!
I figure by the end of the year my accuracy with tiny pieces may improve….. I hope so anyway!
I’m still happy with how they turned out and when they are part of the whole quilt no one is going to be looking too closely at all the crooked parts- at least they had better not be!
If you want to join in and haven’t started yet, here are the links to where you can get the supplies:

Now I’d better get stuck into the next four blocks!
Wish me luck!!
Your blocks look lovely. I still have your email saved to remind me to pull out my start on that quilt – I started it years ago. You know what takes the most time for me? Choosing the scraps I want to use – so your use of a bundle is smart!
Your blocks look great! What an accomplishment this will be when you’re all done.
