Just a bit of this and that!
Last Week’s This and That
I had the loveliest week last week because I only worked two mornings… I had a few appointments on other days, but they all went well.. so I was able to relax a fair bit. Friday I was home alone… ah! Peace and quiet!!!
Heat Wave
I fear I was a bit too excited about tidying up my kitchen sewing corner – Although it is officially Autumn, Summer is refusing to leave… we had a hot week and another one coming up this week – not happy!!!
In the Sewing Room
I managed a bit of time in the sewing room before it got just too hot. I finally got to trimming DH’s summer quilt…

It took me a day to sew this strip quilt…. then a few months before I quilted it in a day.. And now I’m finally trimming it. I love the trimming stage, it always looks so nice and neat:

Now I need to get cut the binding and sew it on…

The rate I am going it will be done by next summer…
Vintage Christmas QAL
I had to go to Spotlight again last week because I didn’t have any fabric for the doll’s skin in the last block for February.
I got a selection of fat quarters to pick from:

And that is where the heat got too much and I abandoned any hope of sewing until summer gives up….
This Week’s This and That
I’m back to my normal work week this week, and have to get my car serviced on my day off… and did I mention it is going to be boiling hot?????? Up in the 30s every day… so I am officially granting myself a week off of my to do list… I give you permission too if you are also in the middle of a heat wave.
You’re welcome!

That is a pretty summer quilt! Hope you get a cold wave soon, I feel for you with the heat. Ours will be here before we know it. Have a great week!
Love your strip quilt!!! Yes to trimming a quilt! I hope you can bear the heat until it calms down. Thank you for featuring my blue jelly roll race quilts!
I hate the heat too. Luckily my sewing space is in the basement where it stays cool year round.
Our snow is finally starting to melt away and we’re hoping (much as we want it gone, gone, gone) that it will go slowly so there’s no flooding. Of course we know it’s still winter in Canada and no doubt we’ll be in for more of it before it’s done. Hope your weather soon moderates so you’ll be more comfortable.
Sorry it’s so darn hot. I had to really think about that — we’re in late winter … so temps are flopping between cold (7 C) and warm. ( 21C — I googled the conversion…) When summer hits we’ll have much warmer weather but now it fluctuates between really cold and stupidly warm. Down the street a tree is in full bloom. We can’t figure out what type a tree. Our cherry tree is not any where near blooming. Hope you have a quilty week.
Love your new quilt. I’m sure you will get it bound before next summer! I hope you get some cooler weather soon. We are ready for warmer springtime weather here. Unfortunately it usually goes from cold to hot to cold and back to hot, not really anything comfortable in between! LOL Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
