Just a bit of this and that!
Last Week’s This and That
Oof, what a week! I actually did a bit of sewing… but then I spilt my cup of tea on it….
I tell you what.. I was ready to give it all up after I did that… get rid of all my fabric, all my quilting stuff, all my sewing machines… I had just had enough.
I did that once before, you know. Back when I was sewing clothes. I was making DD a top – and everything that could go wrong, went wrong. We were about to move to Arabia and I said that’s it! I’m never sewing again!!!
I got rid of all my fabric, sewing machine and was never going to sew again.
Then I turned up in Arabia and saw on a notice board that there was a quilting class starting.. and I thought, let me go and just meet some people….
After “just meeting some people” I told DH to go down to the souk and buy me a sewing machine!!!! And that was the start of my quilting journey….
So… I guess I shouldn’t quit again right?
Alice told me I wasn’t allowed to quit either.
So yesterday I pulled myself together and went back out to the sewing room and started the doll block again (threw all tea stained pieces the bin). I finished the doll:
Next problem is that her skin color is too light… so I think I will be changing that, but not this week!!
I went on to make the Christmas tree:
That was really easy thank goodness!

I didn’t get much else achieved last week… the weeks just seem to go by too quickly….

These blocks are so adorable, especially in the fabrics you’re using, Joy!!! I’m interested in seeing what you’re going to do with the 2.5″ squares. I cleaned my 2.5″ squares out a couple of years ago with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. But! The bin is starting to fill up again!?!
I am glad to hear that you aren’t giving up on quilting. I think we have all been in the place you were at some point. At that very frustrating point, I knew I just needed to step back and breathe. Look what you accomplished. Sweet dolly!
Joy, I feel your frustration. I think I have said those same words when things have not seemed to be going right in my quilting ventures. . I am so glad you pressed on. What a darling block! Oh no – don’t even so much as consider giving up!!! These things are sent to teach us humility. As for the doll face, could you colour it with either crayon or colored pencils, rather than redoing it?? As long as it’s heat set it should work.
Never give up!! Never say never!! You may need to take a break sometimes and then come back with a renewed zest! I love those blocks and I’m glad you restarted!! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings!
